History

Organized in September 1829 as the Mackinaw Congregation of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Danver's Presbyterian marked 193 years of serving Jesus Christ in 2022. The original church building stood just south of Stout's Grove Cemetery. It was replaced by a new church built in 1846 at the edge of the Grove and on the south side of what is now called Old Peoria Road. During 1864 and 1865, the congregation built a large wood frame building on the south side of Exchange Street in Danvers. Within 30 years, the space in that building was not sufficient, and a new brick building was erected on the present site. The cost of that 1895 building was $9000.

In 1906, the name was changed to Danvers Presbyterian Church and the membership grew rapidly. By the 100th anniversary, there were over 500 members. 1947 saw major renovations to the building, and then in 1954, a fellowship room, kitchen and classrooms were added.
