Ayn Rand Number Three

You are one

You decide which one you are. If you can be anything, what are you?

Who are you?

Which direction will your focus take you today?

In this thinking piece, we take a look at ourselves, our motivations, our issues and our passions.

Obviously, since this site is geared around authors, writers and readers who love all of what that means, you are drawn in by the story, the idea, the inclination to be associated with what’s on a page.

It goes deeper than that. For me, I get lost in a book. I lose myself, my surroundings and go deep into that story. I look for parts of the story that my story identifies with.

Or perhaps I look for parts of a story that says to me, “look that is just like you.” But I also look for discoveries. Little nuggets that speak to me and say, “I’ve never heard this idea before, let’s think about that.” “I’ve never heard it said quite that way before, let’s mull over that.” One thing I really love is “Oh that gives me an idea!” I love to be reading something and be able to say that.

There are minorities everywhere. You are a minority of one. You are a snowflake. You are a star. Others may have the same chemical composition; however, you are the only one that thinks exactly like you do. Any similarities between you and someone else can be resolved in mere seconds just by exploring the differences.

Yes, viva la difference. Yes, viva la sameness. We are all people and so are deeply connected on this planet. Yet, we are all different.

Enjoy your difference.

“The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities.” Ayn Rand
