About me...

My name is Andrew. I have followed Wrestling for what feels like my whole life. You could say that I’m addicted to it, but I’m not, it’s just a passion that I happen to have.

My earliest memories of watching the titans from the squared circle are from the days of ‘World of Sport’ on ITV in England. It was presented by a guy called Dickie Davies who looked as old back in 1985 as he does today (why did people look so much older back in the 80’s). Such legends as Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks were regulars, and I remember being in awe while eating my ham and cheese sandwich followed by a pack of Monster Munch. I can remember watching the Dynamite Kid and being amazed by his speed and skill.

The next stage of my wrestling life was a big leap. I was 10 years old and a friend of mine lent me a video that he taped off the TV. I watched it not knowing what to expect and was amazed. The video he lent me was Wrestlemania 6. It was incredible and I never looked back.

Well, that was my intention. You see, the problem back in 1990 was that only certain areas had cable TV, I didn’t live in one

of those areas. Only certain people had satellite TV, I wasn’t one of those people. So I had to rely on the copy of Wrestlemania 6 that I made off of my friends copy, and my WWF sticker album (which I still own and is posted on this site), for my fix.

One day, still in 1990, I noticed in the TV magazine that on terrestrial TV in the middle of the night, literally, I mean middle of the night, it said ‘Wrestling’. Hmmmm, I thought, so I set the VCR to record this and the next morning, not expecting much, I pressed play. I can remember seeing Dangerous Mark Calloway and Dan Spivey and thinking how impressive those guys looked, there was also Flyin’ Brian Pillman. These are the guys that I remember most from watching the stuff that I taped off the box. Yes, it was the NWA, I believe the televised shows were around a year out of date, how do I know this, because while I was watching Dangerous Mark Calloway, a guy called the Undertaker had just made his debut at the Survivor Series.

It wasn’t too much longer until I was fully equipped to live out my passion. In the summer 1991 we subscribed to Satellite TV, just in time for Summerslam. Yes, at the back end of 1991 I was able to catch Jake unleash the python on Savage, Undertaker beat Hogan for the gold, and the Rockers come to a crushing end at the Barbershop. The memories go on.

I still follow wrestling, watching it whenever I can. Its great to see what TNA are currently trying to achieve and it’ll be interesting to see how WWE respond. But these days I like to relive the good old times by collecting figures of my favourite stars from yesteryear and watching old matches on DVD or WWE Classics On Demand.

I hope you enjoy looking through this site.
