Vestry Meetings

Prior to 1920, there were no Parochial Church Councils. The affairs of the Church were handled by the Vicar, the Vicar's Warden and the Parishoner's, or People's, Warden and these were known as Vestry Meetings. These meetings usually took place at Easter when the people of the Parish gathered to elect the Churchwardens,

The following Vicar and People's Wardens were elected at these various meetings:

1861 - William HARLAND, John CRAWFORD & Thomas HALL.

1867 - Luke ROBSON & William HARLAND

1868 - Luke ROBSON & William HARLAND

1908 - M.TAYLOR & J.BELL

1914 - Mr. G. GRAHAME & Mr.TYSON

Parish Church Council (P.C.C.)

After 1920, the wardens were elected at the Parish Church Council at a short "Vestry Meeting", immediately before the main meeting.
