Brief Biography
Dr. Dai joined the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the West Virginia University (WVU) in August 2012 after completing his postdoctoral training at Georgia Institute of Technology and earning his Ph.D. in civil engineering from Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research interests focus on sensing, experiments, modeling, and analytics to enable knowledge discovery and development of innovative strategies, methods, technologies, and tools for improving resilience, safety, and health of built environments and infrastructure systems. While at WVU, Dr. Dai has developed an active, independent research program and built its research strengths in construction informatics and workplace safety and health. Over the past five plus years (8/2012 – 12/2017), Dr. Dai has published 25 (including accepted) articles in peer-reviewed journals and 27 (including accepted) articles in peer-reviewed conference proceedings, and made 22 scholarly presentations at various academic venues. He was invited to deliver a keynote speech at the 2016 International Top-level Forum on Engineering Science and Technology Development Strategy, Xi’an, China.
In addition, Dr. Dai has been serving on the editorial board of ASCE Journal of Construction Engineering and Management since 2013 and recently assumed the Member-at-Large position of ASCE Visualization, Information Modeling, and Simulation Committee in 2017. His contribution to service was acknowledged with four-time Outstanding Reviewer Recognition by ASCE.
