About CAPSE/TED

The California Association of Professors of Special Education Teacher Education Division (CAPSE/TED) is dedicated to improving programs for professional preparation in special education. To achieve this goal, CAPSE/TED provides:

  • Support for its members in their teaching and development of professionals who work with children and youth with disabilities

  • Support for its members in their research, especially regarding the preparation of teachers

  • Opportunities for advocacy, including responses to legislation and policy that affect the training of special education professionals

  • Opportunities for networking with colleagues from across the state:

    • Mentoring for new faculty

    • Assistance with grant writing

    • Assistance with program revisions and writing to credential requirements

Membership is open to

  • College and university faculty

  • Graduate and undergraduate students, especially those who are pursuing a teaching credential or wish to work with students with disabilities

  • School district and county offices of education professionals, especially those who are engaged in a professional development or training program in the several areas of exceptionality

  • Any professionals who identify with the mission of CAPSE/TED and wish to support the organization


CAPSE/TED is a Special Interest Group associated with the California Council for Teacher Educators (CCTE).

CAPSE/TED meets twice per year as part of the Fall and Spring CCTE conferences. Visit News and Events for more information.

CAPSE/TED is also the state subdivision of the Teacher Education Division of the Council for Exceptional Children (TED).
