Integration

Students are assigned to a regular education class at their appropriate grade level. Please let me know if you have specific questions about your child’s schedule. Grade 4 specialists: art, music, gym, library, and health. Grade 5 specialists: art, music, gym, library, and chorus. Students also attend special programs, assemblies, and field trips with their regular education class.

Homework

Homework will be assigned Monday through Friday. Homework must be done neatly and in pencil. It must be completed and returned to school by the due date. Homework not completed by the due date must be made up. Full credit is not given for late homework.

******Please have your child put a first name, last name and date on all homework papers.

Supplies

It is important that students are prepared for school each day. They will need the following supplies: pencils, erasers, highlighter, crayons, markers, a ruler that measures both centimeters and inches, pocket folders, single subject notebooks, pencil box or bag, clipboard, Kleenex and any other materials specified by the teacher.

******Please check with your child from time to time to see if they need to replenish supplies, particularly pencils and erasers.

Instrument Lessons

Students are responsible for making up the work that they miss when they attend their weekly instrument lesson.

Daily Progress Report

A written progress report is sent home with your child daily. Please sign and return it the following day.

Absences

If your child is going to be absent from school it is imperative that you notify the school office. If your child is going to be dismissed early, please send in a note with the time of dismissal so we can have him/her prepared to leave. If a student is dismissed before 11:25 a.m. or arrives to school after 11:25 a.m. then he/she is considered absent that day. Students are responsible for making up any work they miss when absent from school. Don’t forget to send in a note when your child is absent from school. This is required by the office.

Tardy

The school day begins promptly at 8:20 a.m. Students must be seated in their classroom by 8:20 a.m. or they are considered tardy. Students are expected to sign in at the main office when they arrive to school tardy.

Transportation

Please send in a note with your child if there is a change in their transportation. This information is required by the office.

Snack

Please send in a snack each day with your child. We have snack every morning. Also, students may bring in water bottles.

Report Cards and Conferences

Report Cards are sent home three times each year in December, March, and the last day of school in June. I look forward to meeting with you at report card conferences in December and March. It is a great opportunity for us to connect and touch base with each other regarding your child’s progress in school. Conferences will be scheduled on the following dates beginning at 12:15 p.m. for twenty minute blocks.

Conference Dates: December 4, 2013 and March 13, 2014
