Nanoterrains!

As a follow-up to my recent 5m/pix microterrains - here's a heightmap-only version of a 1m/pix nanoterrain...

This is a 4096x4096 synthetic landscape @ 1pixel per meter resolution - it produces a highly detailed 4.1km x 4.1km terrain.

... available in the Resources & Tutorials section.

*edit* - I spent an evening with this heightmap in Visitor, just to see how well it would perform... the answer is - pretty badly!

Buldozer crashed regularly with a mere 8192x8192 Sat & Mask layer, though it did work with a 4096x4096... very, very slowly...

Once binarized, the terrain loaded in the Editor, but then crashed on a regular basis with an 'out of memory' error...

I think it's fairly safe to say that such an extreme 4096x4096 x 1m terrain is a bit beyond current limits...

Of course, you could just tell Visitor it's a 4096x4096 x 10m cellsize terrain! - that would turn it into a nice "Afghan" style 40x40km terrain...
