Pre-AP Chemistry
We have just completed half the semester in Pre-AP Chemistry. Some of you may be looking for ways to improve your understanding in chemistry and practice the skills you have been developing. Here are some of my top suggestions of things that you can do to help move forward with these skills:
Particle model of Matter:
Here are a couple short videos that discuss how matter can be modeled as particles.

Scientific Notation:
Tyler Dewitt has a great series of videos covering chemistry skills. Scientific Notation Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3hPm0ZdYhyxZtI_OJ_tpyL_CPHq6_gvE
Significant Figures:

Paul Anderson (Bozeman Science) also made a great tutorial video on unit conversions: https://youtu.be/UBzVf8XeMYA
Here are some great resources from Khan Academy (videos/articles/practice questions)

The Pearson Mastering Chemistry website has some interactive study modules that can help you to build up skill in these areas.
You can access the Dynamic Study Modules from the Course Home page on Mastering Chemistry. The link should be toward the bottom of the page. It looks like this:
The modules I recommend are the two for Chapter 2: Measurement and Problem Solving
Heat and Temperature (What is the difference?)
Ms. Long explains heat and temperature: https://youtu.be/7P09e4tyWFo
Specific Heat Capacity calculations:
Specific Heat Capacity defined: https://youtu.be/Q63QPec_1bk
Specific Heat capacity and calorimetry calculations: https://youtu.be/5Rhw18MK5v4

Finally, I recommend that you take advantage of my office hours to work with me one-on-one. I am available Monday-Thursday from 3:00 to 3:30 in room 215 (Chemistry Lab).
