Overview

HourGlancer is a time management / recording tool for flexible professionals.

Features

    • Instant overview of all tasks and time spent on them that day

    • Send overview by mail (using default mail client installed on phone)

    • Optional alarm when total time spent that day reaches a certain amount

    • Optional alarm when time spent on a specific task reaches a certain amount

      • Use as maximum: stop working on a task ASAP after you hear the alarm

      • Use as minimum: do not stop working until you hear the alarm

    • Visual indication of task progress available when alarm threshold is set

    • Application does not need to be in memory to record time

      • Killing the app with a task killer will not result in loss of data

      • This is done by using start / end timestamps to record task duration

      • Alarms do not require HourGlancer to be active in the background thanks to Android's built-in alarm system

HourGlancer Lite is available in the Android Market right now, for FREE! The Lite version of HourGlancer will always be free and ad-free. While the first versions did contain advertisements, they were experimental and have since been removed.

* HourGlancer Pro is still under development and does not have a release date yet. Once available it will be initially sold at a discounted introduction price. Please note that the main distribution channel of this application will be the Android Market, which does not yet offer paid applications in all regions.

  • (Optional) Upload overview automatically by using an internal mail client - no more clicking 'send' in the phone's mail client. This also enables the following options:

    • HTML formatted mail possible when using internal mail client after sending

    • Automatically reset hours after sending mail via internal mail client instead of at midnight - useful for night shifts

  • (Optional) Upload overview to a web service

    • This allows multiple employees of a company to submit their hours directly to a central server, without copying them manually from an e-mail overview

    • Web service interface code will be available on this website and can be altered to work with the time management system used by your company

  • (Optional) Record all overview in a local database, which enables the following options:

    • Export a report (monthly or full) in CSV format, compatible with Excel

    • Display task duration trends in a graph

  • (Optional) Automatic submit of daily overview

    • Location based

      • Useful for people who always work in the same area

    • Time based

      • Submit overview at a set time (e.g. 5 PM)

      • Submit overview after a certain amount of time spent that day (e.g. 8 hours)

    • Note: Automatically submitting the daily overview will never be as reliable as manually submitting it, which is why a manual submit is still the preferred way of using this app. However, experience shows that at the end of the day it is easy to forget stopping the clock or submitting the daily overview, so this feature might be implemented as a backup mechanism.
