Progress Log
Count's Messenger RPG
October 2008. New screenshots uploaded!! Now you can see the difference between versions. I'm improving my skills modeling 3D.
May 2008. The first chapter is almost finished. The castle is completed: doors with open/close animation included. I never imagine that it will so hard to furnish a castle!!! :)
Also a deep forest with hundreds of trees. A beautiful/weird sky, and nature sounds.
..... After one year learning more about 3D programs, shaders, texturing and scripting .......
July 2007. Still working on the castle.
June 2007. I'm constructing a nicer castle, with several towers, rooms, chambers, corridors... Also a beautiful landscape, with tons of grass textures, will be inside.
May 2007. My modeling skills are improving. I'm now capable of creating a nicer castle so I have taken an important decision: I'll restart chapter 1 once more. I'm still learning some of the tricks of the 3D world and, I'm starting to realize the way is long, very long... Yet rewarding!
April 2007. I built some architectonic stuff for the castle. Box and plane walls are boring!!
March 2007. Modeling humans in 3D. I need 10 different characters for the first chapter. I'll put our own faces on them and we'll also use some of our friends.
February 2007. Scripting and doing textures.
Jaunary 2007. Doing textures.
Christmas 2006: I stop to eat "turrón" (a delicious Spanish dessert).
December 2006. I decide to restart our project. I din't like my old map because it was boring. I'm designing new textures and constructing a whole new chapter 1.
November 2006. I've modeled our first human. Ha, ha, ha... It's alive! 1120 polygons. I know it's too much, but I have no choice if I want to attain certain quality.
September 2006. I'm using Blender to construct models. First, I'll make tables, chairs, weapons and all sorts of decorative stuff. My real challenge will be to create humans. Hey, my brother's in too!
Summer 2006. I've made our first map using Dim3.
April 2006. I searh the internet for the best game engine. My game will be a RPG and FPS at the same time. I think the engine must be very open and flexible. I have found 3 options:
UT engine. Very expensive and hard to use.
Unity. The application for editing and scripting is Mac only (that's good and wise). It has very cool features but it seems a little complicated to use. There are good tutorials. though.
Dim 3. It's free and has very good tools. There is an excellent forum. And it seems you can ask for any improvement of the engine, because there is a good chance the programmer might do it. It appears to be a good starting point into the 3D-games world.
March 2006. I wake up and decide to make a game...
