Classes

Due to Covid-19 we currently hold classes online.

Times and dates for 2020/21

We hold virtual classes at 7:45pm every Wednesday during term time. These may include Scottish step dancing, Highland dancing and ceilidh dancing - we have to get creative in these troubled times!

Classes follow the dates for university lecture weeks, stopping for revision and exam weeks. Beginners are always welcome! Classes do progress, so you might find it easier if you join the class at the start of a semester.

Footwear a.k.a. can I dance in anything?

Country dancing does not have to be done in special Country Dancing shoes (like black ballet shoes with criss-cross laces). However, if you do have them they make it much easier and you dance much better! You can buy them from any of the shops in our links section or we put an order in at the start of term. The most important feature is that they're comfortable and there's no need for special shoes if you're just starting.

Jazz or ballet shoes can also be worn and will make footwork easier than trainers. Basically, anything that doesn't have a thick sole or heels will do. If you are comfortable dancing in trainers then that's fine!

Generally something comfortable with a flexible sole.
