= Northern Ireland Troubles in a nutshell =

Friends leaving an atheist meeting in Belfast NI were subsequently stopped at some traffic lights

whilst heading home, when suddenly a gunman appeared and opened the door and pointed a gun

to their heads before asking:

" are you Catholic or Protestant? "

To which they replied: " we are neither we are atheists "

To which the confused gunman further replied:

" well, are you Catholic atheists or Protestant atheist! "

THE ENGLISHMAN

FOREWARD - as an Englishman - I AM NO BRIT!

I do get asked this question when you consider all AN.com websites and including my own position on BRITAIN and IRELAND.

I have been thinking for some time about rectifying this.

I have my own small but Proud Irish Blood via my Mothers side and where I must get my romantic Celt Rebel side from! But also being asked to do so by my trusted co-ops from across Europe but who are, quite frankly and perfectly understandable, completely baffled by the sheer complexity of the ... ... ... ... ... .. .  'British - Northern Ireland Question ' and so where the hell do I begin!

HERE IS SOME STUFF TO GET US STARTED

Cecil Woodham-Smith, Irish scholar and author, wrote in The Great Hunger Ireland1845–1849:

" No issue has provoked so much anger or so embittered relations between the two countries

England and Ireland  as the indisputable fact that huge quantities of food were exported from

Ireland to England throughout the period when the people of Ireland were dying of starvation.”

1798 Irish Rebellion

PATRICK HENRY PEARSE IRB - Irish Republican Brotherhood

First to be executed by the British for his leading role in the EASTER RISING 1916

I can remember this well and watching it on TV at the time shocking as well as tragic as this was also around the same time period that I was there + my own personal recollections and experiences of visiting the province during the very turbulent period of  'Thatchers Britain' during the 1980s and a good indication of the Brit mentality + relevant today in the curious case of SYRIA and T.E.Lawrence in particular as a good example of the sheer duplicity of the British Establishment and how to manipulate the mass at which the Brit State is second to none!

 I AM AN ENGLISHMAN - SO I KNOW !

so enough of this British Liberal Jingoistic nonsense !

THE BRIT MONARCHY ( parasites! ) YOUR REALITY CHECK at it's finest!

This is actually very good and historically accurate!

THE BRIT BBC State Propaganda Media Machine can actually produce some very good stuff once they completely leave out all unbiased material as in this case but now a rarity so do not be fooled!

So something to be going on with - the excellent documentary above is one of the best I've found and gives a good indication and grounding for those asking the question. Taken from the lads on the ground to the officers who were in charge of the overall strategic planning on that very difficult ground etc ...

Interesting Story ... although there is no firm evidence, there is a distinct possibility that T.E.L above during his period of service in the army after WW1 was used to spy on IRA activities that were active within the British Army during the early part of the 1920s. Where it is believed that he foiled at least one IRA propaganda campaign within the Army at such a crucial time in Ireland's history with the Partition of 1921 and then with the further creation of the Irish Free State in 1922 and leading to the further tragedy of the Cival War from June22 to May23.

IRA -v- Black & Tans !

Who Was Michael Collins ?

I confess - this is Impressive!

But remember - the Boers kicked the Brits arse!

The 'British Empire' was never really 'British' at all in the sense of ancient Britannia and/or Albion but rather was and so remains Rothschild-City-London whilst the 'British Army' simply provided the muscle, re: India, Singapore, Hong Kong, the Crimea, the Boer Wars et al and so it goes on and always remember; the biggest criminals throughout European History beginning with Oliver Cromwell the Rothschild Commonwealth and the Restoration are the British!

So any story about IRELAND would not be complete without OLIVER CROMWELL.

But Cromwell is a very difficult subject for me to write about personally due not only to the complexity of the man and the dual aspect of his Christian/Protestant religious fervour which drove him and which I can fully understand. Difficult because of my own personal respect for this ENGLISHMAN as one of thee Greatest of all English Generals and thee most brilliant of military strategists that ENGLAND has ever produced. The ultimate Pragmatist but also ruthless when the military situation and rules of engagement called for it. Including a true 'man-of-the-people' and yet firmly in the pockets of the alien bankers ...

This is a prime example of how this alien religion of 'Judeo-Christianity' ( note: I make a clear distinction between present Eastern-Christian-Orthodoxy and Western-Zion-Degeneracy) has polluted and corrupted our Aryan European Ideal over many centuries causing more division, death and destruction and suffering than any other religion ( including ISLAM! ) and Ireland is indeed a fine example of this.

To Irish Catholics, Cromwell is Satan and they have a saying:

" May the curse of Cromwell be upon you! "

Can you now see the personal dilemma that I face.

He would have made a fine English WaffenSS officer!

" I had rather have a plain, russet-coated Captain, that knows what he fights for  and loves what he knows

than that which you call a Gentleman and is nothing else "

EXAMPLE - the siege of DROGHEDA and/or the sacking of WEXFORD September-October 1649

REMEMBER ... all history is always written by the victors and all the anti-Cromwell stuff came only after the Restoration and the amount of Drogheda bullshit is no exception. When Charles II was restored to the royal throne it wasn’t long before the killers of his father became the victims of Royalist wrath! Soon after, the bodies of Cromwell and his son-in-law Henry Ireton ( who became Lord Deputy of Ireland ) were exhumed and defiled and the people couldn’t get to the printing presses quickly enough to destroy their reputations and what do you know and where have we seen and heard all this before ... sound familiar?

DROGHEDA - had been a peaceful Parliamentarian Garrison Town for two whole years before it was captured by Royalists in July of 1649 and Cromwell played it straight under the then rules of engagement. Such a man would never have allowed his 'Moral Compass' to deviate by such a degree!

But I can never forgive him for the wanton destruction of the original Crown Jewels despite the fact that after the Civil Wars England was effectively bankrupt!

yeah, right!

" The Parliamentarian garrison of Drogheda from 1647-49 had no recorded discord with the townspeople ... many inhabitants of Drogheda had already left the town before the start of the assault in September 1649 "

" Trust in God and keep your powder dry "

 Oliver Cromwell 1599-1658

whereas CHURCHILL is a simple one!

Winston Churchill - this disgusting and deluded arsehole failed in EVERY position and EVERY aspect of his life and career prior to the outbreak of WW2 when he saw his chance for 'redemption' as he saw it. This aristocratic gangter, bisexual, alcoholic and general worthless piece-a-shit. Was simply a hustler, a chancer, always on the look out for the main chance which he always took and usually at the expense of everyone else and yet still he failed!

On Ireland - he supported 'Home Rule' albeit with the proviso of Unionists in the North to opt out.

He was also a supporter of a 'United Ireland' to a degree but this was only later in life as he was also complicit in the war of independence in Lloyd George government that included indiscriminate reprisals and said nothing concerning the 'Black and Tans' and because of this the Irish Free State remained neutral during WW2 as President Éamon de Valera had this guy sussed!

Describing him as: " a dangerous enemy of the Irish people "

and this is why the Brits love this guy!

Memo: From Winston Churchill To General Ismay Date: July 6, 1944  It may be several weeks before I ask you to drench Germany with poison gas, and if we do it, let us do it one hundred per cent - WW2

Just look at the picture below - if that is not the face of an evil tyrant - then I don't know what is!

The British Army code name for Northern Ireland was 'Operation Banner' when the British Army was deployed on the streets of Belfast from August of 1969 and which was set to last 3 months and went on to last almost 30 yrs ... with thousands of deaths and casualties of war.

When the old and the traditional battle lines of the 'Irish Struggle' had been redrawn with the split in 1969 between the old and 'Official IRA' (Irish/Nationalist c-1917 ) and the new 'Provisional IRA' (Republican/Marxist c-1969) who were seen as the more aggressive and dangerous !

Here is an interesting point as an example: Seán mac Stíofáin (1928-2001) was a founding member of the Provisional IRA and its first army chief of staff. However, he was in fact born John Stephenson in London and the son of Protestant parents ...

So with hard lessons learned ( ... and including the previous experience of both the Palestine and the Malayan emergencies of the late 1930s - 40s - 50s + the Mau Mau uprising in Kenya and the EOKA in Cyprus! ) that even now, as I write, the British Army are now considered and recognised as thee leading experts in counter insurgency in the world today - because they are!

So any Brit who believes that they can take on and defeat the British State through up rising and rebellion I would suggest - think again!

WW1 - CHARLES ALFRED my own dear Grand Father went 'over the top' JULY1st 1916 alongside loyal Ulstermen at the battle of the Somme 102yrs almost to the day as a proud member of the Manchester Regiment ( the same Reg as Wilfred Owen ) and including the Lancashire Fusiliers ...

He was shot and wounded in the shoulder ( one of the lucky ones! ) on that fateful day in British History and I often wonder what he would think having never met him ?

haunting video

would be either killed or wounded within the next hour !

BRITISH ARMY - early days of deployment - NORTHERN IRELAND

So you think you know the British ?

or even Proud to be British ?

Trust me - you have no idea!

But The Brits after only two generations are now sadly so far gone as to even notice.

= MY STORY =

I CAN REMEMBER ... very vividly the very first time I stepped foot on NI soil and Belfast in particular.

This was the 1980s and a very tense period in NI politics due to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher who was loathed by Republicans in the province. The Irish Republican 'Hunger Strikes' had already taken place and the 'Falklands War' had just come to end and all under the Thatcher Conservative Government ...

GEN X: meaning, the period during ' Thatchers  Britain' in the UK and/or ' Reagan Era' in the US.

Much more Right Wing and Conservative than the previous 'Boomer  Generation' for example ...

I was then just a young lad from Manchester, North West England, now involved in this bewildering but also exciting political world. So six-seven of us would all pile into the back of an old beat-up Ford Transit van and drive North to Scotland and take the Ferry Crossing from Stranraer-Scotland to Larne Northern Ireland because it was the shortest route to get 'across-the-water' to NI only 2-3hours ... Happy Days.

An interesting point - upon arrival we as a group ( and the van! ) would always be stopped and then thoroughly searched because we were a political group. The NI Border Control ( and Special Branch!)  would make there usual candid and witty remarks about our boxes of literature, flags, flyers and god knows what else we had in the van and ask politely if they could have such and such and that they would keep this and that as they knew exactly who we were - enough said!

Another point - the true relationship between mainland 'British Nationalism' and 'Ulster Loyalists' was always somewhat of an uneasy one - as though each really wasn't quite sure about the other ?

There was not much to do in Larne itself so after a couple-a-beers we would then drive South to Belfast where some of the older guys had the contacts. However, the really strange and weird part for me as a young English lad from the mainland ...

Walking the streets of (EAST)Belfast for the very first time.

There were people all around just going about their normal business and everyday lives but also the RUC and/or UDR were right in front of me wearing flak-jackets and carrying rifles with a side-arm!

Especially when taken for a ride and given a 'sight seeing tour' of (WEST)Belfast along the Falls Road.

You must remember that we were born and raised in Britain where even our own police did not carry guns (that was then - not now!) so this strange sight impacted all the more sharply on the senses ...

my own childhood growing up during the late 1960s and the 1970s was your typical scruffy, snotty nosed working class kid on the tough but proud streets of Salford and Manchester. Where the only policing that I ever knew was your traditional and classic British ' Bobby-on-the-Beat ' so nothing could have prepared me for such a strange and alien environment.

AS THIS POIGNANT PICTURE ABOVE CLEARLY SHOWS

GREAT BRITAIN in only two generations is now an absolute disgrace and they should all be ashamed!

The worthless British Police on the right of this photo should also hang their heads in shame!

Because if you don't - people like me - will personally ram that rifle right up your arse!

However, I digress ...

We would only stay in NI for maybe a couple-a-days for what ever event it was we were attending.

So in that time you would witness the full might of the British Army with weapons in hand deployed on the streets of what was effectively Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The BA would patrol using the classic 'brick formation' consisting of a 12 man squad with three teams of 4 men each covering and protecting and securing the other - it was all very professional which only the BA could mount in such a manner. Then maybe see and hear a couple of British Army 'snatch' Land Rovers and/or a British Army SAV ( Saracen Armoured Vehicle or Pig! ) which would suddenly screech round the corner of this quite normal street just like the very same streets that I had left in Manchester earlier that morning.

But you could also feel the real tension in the air ... that it could kickoff at any moment!

Those streets could be literally any street on mainland Britain ... it was all very surreal!

INLA MAZE PRISON 1997 - British Government approved and sanctioned!

( The NI Troubles was indeed a very dirty war on both sides )

I would return a handful of times after that but I will never forget that first visit to Belfast and for any yanks reading this, just think 'the wild west' and you get the idea! I visited the Ulster-Irish border only the once in South Armagh ' Bandit Country ' where there existed a complete break down of law and order at that time and which seemed very remote and cut off from the rest of the province. This was a solo trip. Just me and an older ( and wiser and a good lad! ) Loyalist mate of mine who felt that at the time that I needed to 'see the sights' ( as he would put it ) at the border area in order for me to fully appreciate and to truly understand just what they were up against! I later moved to live in the United States and I never saw him again after that  ' passing ships in the night '  life really can be just like that!

I wanted to visit Crossmaglen Square above but my Ulster friend said no way - too dangerous!

Infamous Crossmaglen at the time I wanted to visit!

Good Lord - the pair of us would have been lynched!

a Protestant Ulsterman and Englishman with an English accent!

I can laugh now as I look back and write this - but make no mistake - it was VERY REAL at the time !

I can remember that the further and further South we drove towards the border, the more and more Irish Tricolour flags and IRA signs you would see flying from the telegraph poles. The nightmare miriad of the border roads were either blown up by Army Demolition Teams and/or blocked by Army Engineers only to be removed again that same night by Republicans! Trying, usually in vain, to filter any crossing point via RUC-BA-UDR Check Points. The BA could only be flown in using Puma Helicopter to assist the RUC on foot patrol - only to be flown out again afterwards - a complete waste of time and any possible lives ...

I wouldn't have missed it all for the world.

I have not returned to NI since the 'Ceasefire' and the 'Good Friday Agreement' of 1998 and many now tell me that I would not recognize the place! I Hope and Trust that you have enjoyed this story and a recent slice of British/Irish History  AN.com websites.
