On Sunday March 11th, 2018 we plan to commemorate Ray’s life.

8am or thereabouts on the dog beach at Bonna Point. Weather permitting, Cleo and Molly would love to meet other dogs and their owners, for romping and swimming and reminiscing about the good times.

6pm at Endeavour cafe on the corner of Prince Charles Pde and Captain Cook Drive. The owners, Helen and Sharon, have generously agreed to open their doors on Sunday evening so that his friends and neighbours can get together to honour Ray’s memory. If you feel the occasion requires food or drink, please bring your own. Coffee will be provided.

Ray, a man of intense passion and commitment, and Kurnell resident for more than 50 years, wore many hats over his long life; amongst other things he was a good friend, lover of large dogs, husband, brother, neighbour, pattern-maker, cross country runner, business man, sailor, boat builder, aircraft pilot, scallywag, photographer, member of the rural fire service, lover of fast cars, birds, women, and good food. In his eighties he took up snorkelling, tai chi and golden zumba, used a computer and a mobile phone, and purchased a kayak to return to paddling on Botany Bay. He helped establish Art Gallery, Kurnell, continued to maintain his property inside and out, care for himself and his and friends’ dogs, drive his car most days out of Kurnell, often to either Bunnings or IGA, sometimes, with Cleo, his dog, up to his family home in Newcastle, leaving first thing and returning by mid-afternoon. He enjoyed riding his bike around Kurnell, and generally lived out his life insisting his body would go on performing. Hearing became a problem, but his mind and eyesight remained sharp.

Join us friends, if you are able, 6pm, Sunday March 11th at Endeavour Coffee Shop, opposite the National Park. Coffee will be provided. BYO.
