Constitution

October 2010 The club, to be non-League and open to all, is to be known as ‘Angmering Short Mat Bowls Club’.

All new members given a four week trial period.

Club meetings to be held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons – 3.00pm – 5.00 pm.

Annual General Meeting of the club to be held in October each year with 28 days notice being given to all members. Any proposals to be submitted within 21 days of the meeting.

Election of Committee at Annual General Meeting, co-option – if necessary – can be made at the Committee’s discretion.

The Committee shall meet every two months.

All matches to be played in accordance with the rules of the Worthing District SMB League.

The Secretary shall note the business of the Committee meetings and record accordingly. If required, the Chairman shall have the casting vote when voting takes place.

Regular attendance would be appreciated to ensure the smooth running of the sessions.

Rules For Membership.

Membership will be open to all those who wish to play short mat bowls.

To be eligible for membership, or to play at sessions or matches,applicants must be sixteen (16) years of age or in excess of this lower age limit.    

A membership numbers limit will be established by the Club Committee.( For 2021/22 season a limit of sixty (60) 

After this limit has been reached a waiting list will be maintained.

The waiting list will be operated and adhered to on the basis of the date of application.

When a membership becomes available the individual at the top of the list based on earliest date of application will be eligible to join. If this is declined the next applicant on the list will be invited to join.

The membership application waiting list will be operated by the club secretary or membership secretary(if a membership secretary has been elected) .

As we are not a league club, individuals can join even if they are already members of a league club.

Special Membership.

 An award of Life Membership will be considered for those individuals who have contributed in an exceptional way in the service of the club.

Any member can be nominated for the award of life membership. Nominations will be considered and agreed by the club committee as suitable.

Subject to the agreement of the committee and after discussion with the club treasurer, any member selected for a life membership award may derive the following benefits :

1) Excused payment of annual membership subscription.

2) Excused payment of session fees.

3) Excused payment of fees for home friendly matches.

Should any life member not accept these financial benefits, an assessment will be made on an annual basis and a donation equal to those benefits may be made to a local charity.

Any future award of excused payments will depend on the retention of a positive balance of the club finances and will be kept under constant review.

Annual Subscription. (October to October).

Club members will pay an annual subscription. (For 2021/22 season the sum of £5.00 per annum).

The level of the next years subscription will be determined prior to the club Annual General Meeting.

The level of the next years subscription will be announced at the AGM.

Members will have four (4) weeks from the AGM to pay the annual subscription after which time they will no longer be members.

Session Fees

Club members will pay an amount each session. ( As of 4th March 2014 members will pay £2.50 per session )  This will be kept under constant review.

(The fee for open, charity or friendly matches will be determined by the competition organisers and may be above the club session rate.)

Club Financial Balance

As of the Club Committee meeting of 28th January 2014 it was determined to retain a positive financial balance of £2500.00.

If the balance falls below this minimum holding this will trigger an immediate increase in session fees. ( for the 2014 season to October, from £2.00 to £2.50 for members and from £2.50 to £3.00 for non members )

The financial balance trigger point has been reached. As of Tuesday 4th March 2014 the session fees will increase to £2.50 for members and £3.00 for non members. 

The session fees for the 2021/2022 season will be £2.50 for members and £3.00 for non members.

Non Members or Casual Players 

Non members or casual players may be allowed to participate, numbers permitting.

 Non Members or Casual Players will have the first game free and then pay £3.00 per session for the 2021/2022 season. This will be kept under constant review. 

At the registry of each roll up session Non Members will be issued with a numbered disc, they must then wait until all members have registered and if numbers permit will be allowed to participate. 

Non members will be invited to join the waiting list for membership (if not already listed.)

Playing.

Club members can play in any friendly, charity or in house competition arranged. They will pay an agreed session fee for any match played.

Non members will not be allowed to enter any friendly, charity or in house competition, until members have been given the first option. If insufficient members wish to participate then non members may be invited to play.

Social Events.

Any social event organised for club members that may be subsidised from club funds will exclude subsidy for non members unless cost or partial cost is agreed waived by the Club Committee.
