About Me

I am currently a Ph. D. candidate at the Climate Research Division at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego. The thesis research is mainly done with the advice of Prof. Art Miller and Prof. Bruce Cornuelle. My research interests are varied and are mainly focused on data assimilation and geophysical fluid dynamics. The main focus of the thesis research is on assimilating ship cruise and satellite observed data into a regional eddy-permitting ocean model of the South East Pacific to better understand mesoscale ocean processes in this region. Another primary focus of the thesis is in gaining a better understanding of the Madden-Jullian Oscillations and El-Nino Southern Oscillation dynamics using a global climate model called the Community Earth System Model (CESM). This work is in collaboration with Prof. Raghu MurtuguddeDr. Markus Jochum and Dr. Hyodae Seo. I also am researching into nonlinear data assimilation techniques to improve upon the Ensemble Kalman Filter and Adjoint based methods in data assimilation into nonlinear models. I work and gain advice from Prof. Ibrahim Hoteit for this research.

I previously obtained M.Sc. (Engg.) from Centre for Atmospheric & Oceanic Sciences in 2006 and B.Tech from Department of Ocean Engineering at IIT Madras in 2004.
