Frequently Asked Questions:

When did 4C start?

Christians Combating Climate Change (4C) was set up by a small group of Christians in December 2009. The original name of the group was "Living In The Age Of Stupid" however the name was changed to 4C in April 2010. The old name was taken from name the film "The Age of Stupid". The Age of Stupid is a 2009 British film directed by Franny Armstrong, founder of 10:10. The film is a drama-documentary-animation hybrid which stars Pete Postlethwaite as a man living alone in the devastated world of 2055, watching archive footage from 2008 and asking "Why didn't we stop climate change when we had the chance?"

Why should I care about Climate change?

    • Climate change is already having devastating effects on people in the third world, and can only get worse. Jesus asked us to 'Love your neighbour'.
  • Here' a quote from a Tearfund partner in Mali:
  • 'The climate has changed and the rainy season has become unpredictable. The water levels fall year by year and some kinds of animals and vegetation have disappeared. The future is bleak for farmers and cattle breeders alike. Everything has become complex and the survival of the poor uncertain, especially when they think about their children and descendants.'
  • 'Dried Up, Drowned Out: Voices from the developing world on a changing climate' Tearfund, 2005
    • Climate change is expected to affect poorest countries more severely than the western world. Those who are least able to cope are affected most by a phenomenon they did the least to cause. So fighting climate change is a matter of justice.
  • God has called us to care for his creation.
