Facilities & Equipment

The newly created Sheffield Tomography Centre at the University of Sheffield provides support, advice, and the opportunity to use high resolution and cutting edge tomography equipment within the Faculty of Engineering. The Facility is funded by a Strategic Equipment Grant from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), and is shared between the Dept. Materials Science and Engineering and the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering.

The Facility encompasses an industry leading Zeiss Xradia 620 Versa X-ray Microscope (XRM) complete with numerous in-situ Deben testing rigs. We support a wide range of sample types and sizes, and can provide spatial resolutions to 500nm (sample dependent).

We are open to internal and external academic/research projects, as well as commercial and industrial collaborations.
