Ideation

Tell us about your assignment's idea for this week. Why do you care about this idea? What inspired you? (Please include images or links to sources of inspiration)

The idea of the project is to make cool glasses. It consists of two parts. The glasses part is made of laser cutting and the hangers made of 3D printing

I inspired the final design from these pictures.

Design/Preparation Process

Explain the design and/or preparation process of your assignment. How did you use the tool or software to design and/or prepare your assignment before fabrication/implementation?

Drawing Sketch


First I started by measuring my glasses

Then I drew the measurements on paper

1nd part: frame of  glasses


First I took the dimensions of the real glasses. Then decided the design I want,


make fillet for corner 10 

steps :

1- Modify > fillet > choose 10 radius 


Fully defined sketch 


the sketch is fully defined on fusion 


2nd part: Arms  of  glasses


make fillet for corner 10 

steps :

1- Modify > fillet > choose 144 radius 

Extrude of the glassess


I selected the shape then removed the parts that won't be extruded. The extrusion is set to be 3mm 


Appearance features 


1nd part: frame of  glasses

1- From modify menu select appearance 

2-From appearance menu search on wood and from fusion library menu select the color 

 3- The color selected is beag  


2nd part: Arms  of  glasses

1- From modify menu select appearance 

2-From appearance menu search on plastic and from fusion library menu select the color 

 3- The color selected is Black 





Development/Implementation Process

Explain the development/implementation process of your assignment. How did you use the machine/tool to manufacture or implement the design of your assignment?

3D Printing


Laser Cutting 



1- Drag File on Cura it must be *.STL format 


2- i change Properties


3- then click on slice to show number of grams and time

  (9 gram ) -(38 min )  

4- finally  save to disk  (extension .gcode)


1- Import file on RDwork it must be *.DXF  format 

2- change Properties

speed 200 - power 15

4- finally  download ,The laptop must be connected to a machine



3D Printing 

I began with the 3D printer because it would take the longest to complete. I loaded the .gcode file onto the SD card and began printing.  and i waiting machine to heat up

Laser Cutting 

I saved the .dfx file on my usb , After that, I inserted the sheet of wood into the laser cutting bed, adjusted the origin and focus, followed the rest of the instructions, and began cutting.

Overcoming Challenges

What kinds of challenges or problems did you face while doing the assignment, tutorials, or exercises?  How did you solve them? Did you ask for help from an instructor or peer? Please provide a link to the tutorial or article that you used to solve your problem (if any)

The challenge I faced is designing an idea from scratch on the program fusion

So the challenge of measuring and adjusting them, and dealing with the program at the beginning was difficult because I deal more with programs photoshop 

but i try to solve this problem , to  drawing sketch on paper with sizes

I printed 2 right Arms, so I opened the file on cura  and make mirror for the shape

Final Project

How can you use the skills and knowledge that you've acquired this week in your final project?

The project has a lot to do with the final project because it taught me a lot of skills that I will use when I work on the final project, such as Determine and adjust the sizes and imagine the parts that need to be printed and the parts that need to be cut

What is the coolest thing that you've learned this week? What is something that you will never forget from this week?

The most important thing that excited me was the information that I knew about  how to Design on Fusion
