Tool Chain

Which software/machines/materials did you use in the assignment? Why?

RD works v 8(Software)

3D Printer (Machine)

Cura (Software)

PLA (Material)

Ply Wood-3mm (Material)

Laser Cutting (Machine)

Software : Ulti-Maker Cura, RD Work V8

Machine :3D Printer , Laser Cutting

Materials : PLA, Wood 3mm

why ?

Because these machines and Software work in an integrated manner in the three-dimensional printing processes for the three-dimensional objects, and the same applies to the two-dimensional objects through the laser cutting machine

Design/Preparation Process

Explain the design and/or preparation process of your assignment. How did you use the tool or software to design and/or prepare your assignment before fabrication/implementation?

Cura Parameters Software

Infill 0.3 mm

Time : 16 min

PLA : 4 gram

In the beginning, I was searching on the Internet using search keywords like 3d design for 3D Printer free download, then I visited thingiverse.com and many other websites, And I chose the design of  an anchor key chain ,

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:195846

Then I download  the design with STL extension, Then I Import that file to Multimaker Cura, after I make slice and set the parameters for Cura As stated below:

Infill 0.3 mm , Time : 16 min , PLA : 4 gram

Scan (Red Color)  Speed 250 , Power 20

I visited 3axis.co and many other websites, And I chose the design of  a key Drop ,

Then I download  the design with DXF extension, Then I imported it to  the RD Works V8, I made some changes and replace ellipse instead of words on the original source then I adjust the parameters for Laser cutting processes As stated below:

Cut  (Black Color)  Speed 30 , Power 65

Scan (Red Color)  Speed 250 , Power 20

Development/Implementation Process

Explain the development/implementation process of your assignment. How did you use the machine/tool to manufacture or implement the design of your assignment?

Laser Cutting Machine (2D)

Ply Wood 0.3 mm

time : 22 sec

Cut  (Black)  Speed 30 ,

 Power 65

Scan (Red)  Speed 250

Power 20

After I put the file with the STL extension in the card reader so that I can put it in the 3D printer, and the color of the PLA was green, and therefore I decided to change the color to black, and I made unload filament, then I chose PLA, and after that I took out the green PLA and put black PLA and I made a Load Filament and inserted the PLA tip on the Nozzle of the 3D printer and selected the special file only after searching for it and then pressed Start and the printing started in the heating process until it reached a temperature of 215 degrees for the nozzle, until the material was melted PLA and conformation according to the file to be printed

After I downloaded the file and sent it to the laser cutting machine, I started working on the machine screen by clicking on File and searching for the special file. After I found it, the image of the file appeared on the laser cutting machine screen, then I put a sheet of wood and made Adjust the machine by pressing the Origin button, and I measured the Focus using a piece of wood that was previously calibrated, and it measures the distance between the Nozzle of the machine and the wood sheet, and after I made sure that the Focus is correct, I lowered the door of the laser cutting machine and pressed the Start button and After that, the machine took 22 seconds to do the cut and the required scan

Overcoming Challenges

What kinds of challenges or problems did you face while doing the assignment, tutorials, or exercises?  How did you solve them? Did you ask for help from an instructor or peer? Please provide a link to the tutorial or article that you used to solve your problem (if any)

I faced 2 main challenges, including a problem with the setup of RD works V8 in my Labtop, but I downloaded it again and worked with it.

I faced a problem that whenever I was trying to print the anchor key chain on through 3D printer, I would find that the printing had defects at the beginning of printing the anchor, and accordingly, And with the help of the advice of one of the technicians in the laboratory, by changing the temperature of the bed of the 3D printer and making it 70 degrees instead of 60 degrees, and therefore I was able to print the anchor key chain

, then overcome the problem and print the anchor key chain

Bed Heat  : 60 Degree

Correction : Bed heat 70 Degree

Final Project

How can you use the skills and knowledge that you've acquired this week in your final project?

Laser Cutting Machine

I have acquired many skills in dealing with the 3D printer and the laser cutting machine for 2D , as I have never dealt before with these software and machines, which in turn will help me a lot in my graduation project.

 Using 3D Printer for Printing

WOW!

What is the coolest thing that you've learned this week? What is something that you will never forget from this week?

I learned to cut and print small figures and models, and what makes me most happy is that I take the first step in implementing any idea and turning it into a prototype
