This Week, The Task is to fabricate a 3d printed model and wooden model using open sources. So, I decided to fabricate the most 2 things I love.
Lion King Film
Laser Cut
Lion King Film is one of my favorite childhood films , because I loved it so much , I used to watch it almost twice every week. So I decided to make a design which related to it.
Champions League Cup

For me is to see my favorite team "Barcelona" wins the Champions League Cup all time makes me happy. So I decide to make a model of Champions League Cup as a kind of optimism that I hope that we will win the Champions League Cup. I hope that :)

Explain the design and/or preparation process of your assignment. How did you use the tool or software to design and/or prepare your assignment before fabrication/implementation?

First , I searched and got the design from 3-axis File .dxf Website for laser cutting designs
in this design ,First I used 3mm plywood and it's size is 10cm *8cm to make it simple and light keychain / logo.
using software "Laser Cad" i used:
1- Cutting with power of 70 watt and speed 20 to cut plywood and make spaces in Lion.

Champions League Cup Design
First , i also got the design from Thingiverse File .stl Website For 3D Printing Designs.
in this model , it's size is 3 cm * 2cm * 5cm.
Parameters:
I used 0.2 layer Height, 20% infill and slice 36 min .I didn't use supports and adhesion.
Note :
this design will take 5 grams from generic PLA material so that Confirms us that the design is light.

Explain the development/implementation process of your assignment. How did you use the machine/tool to manufacture or implement the design of your assignment?

After I handled the design in laser cad software , I downloaded it to the laser cut machine, First:
1- I put the plywood on laser cutter and checked it's dimensions .
2- I checked the origin to start cutting from it.
3- I also checked that there is a sheet of wood in the place that I'll cut in using Box button.
4- I clicked on Start button and the machine begins to cut the 3mm plywood to form the lion shape.

After I handled the design in Ultimate Cura software , I downloaded it to the 3D printing, First:
1- I begin to unloaded Red PLA Material to another White PLA after preheating nozzle.
2- I choose to print from SD card which contains g-code file of design.
then the printer started to print.

Overcoming Challenges
What kinds of challenges or problems did you face while doing the assignment, tutorials, or exercises? How did you solve them? Did you ask for help from an instructor or peer? Please provide a link to the tutorial or article that you used to solve your problem (if any)
Problems
In Lab : there is a problem with 3D printer. it can't reheat the bed and it's temp wouldn't increase over then 30 degrees, and we had to reach 55 degrees to start printing , but Lab specialist helped me and we begins to print at 0 degree of bed and it printed successfully.
I had a problem with file extention of Laser Cutting Files , software exports file in .plt extention and I thought that was wrong extention but when I asked menna , she told me that' OK and the machine can deal with it.

I think this week , I learnt about laser cut well and how to make a design using open source files , I think that I will use this knowledge in my final project to make a designs which I can use it to decorate my final project box.

Fabrication Challenge
The coolest thing which I'd learned this week is how to cut with different powers and speed to get a different colors of burn on the wood. We use this technique to make a super mario and this T-rex.
