World Book Day 2021

Sam in Year 9, explains why his entry, a crushed milk carton, relates to his book choice 'The Moscow Rules' by Antonio and Jonna Mendez.

Alexandr Dimitievict Oyorodrick code name TRIGON was a soviet diplomat who worked for the CIA in the cold war, his initial involvement with them was when he worked in Columbia. In 1975 he returned to Moscow and the CIA lost contact with him for a while, although did contact him again later that year.In 1976 Martha Peterson (Marti) started working with TRIGON.Marti and TRIGON communicated by leaving messages for each other in a wooded area in a residential part of Moscow. They found ways of leaving messages for each other that no one else would recognise.TRIGON took to using a crushed milk carton, like the one I have made. He would leave messages and roles of 35mm film with photos of documents from the Kremlin in it.To ensure that no one else picked up the milk carton, it was made to look so disgusting that no one would go near it let alone pick it up. He did this by making it look like it had sick on it.
