What We Do

Our Story

The Regents' Investment Fund is a student organization within Pacific Lutheran University's School of Business that aims to give students hands-on experience investing real money. 

Since our founding in 1982 by a $25,000 grant from Mary Lund Davis, we have grown to manage over $190,000. The Regents' Investment Fund (RIF) is run by a group of elected students, and the board, who hold weekly meetings and facilitate discussions. RIF provides a great opportunity for students to gain exposure to topics and careers in finance, market discussions, and financial modeling early on in their education. 

Our Approach

RIF looks to invest in fundamentally sound companies that we believe have the opportunity for growth. For an analyst or board member to propose an investment, they must complete a qualitative and quantitative analysis to present to the entire fund. Quantitative analysis includes, but is not limited to, multiples analysis, multiples modeling, and discounted cash flow modeling. After a proposal, the fund will vote on whether or not to invest in the proposed security. 

Our Structure

RIF is run by a board of six elected student leaders. The board is responsible for running weekly meetings, facilitating discussions, and providing educational value to those in the fund.
