Visual Arts
Visual Art Description:
The Visual Art program offers opportunities for students to explore all aspects of visual art, develop visual literacy skills and concepts, and develop an appreciation for Visual Art. Curriculum and coursework encourages a well-rounded understanding of the skills involved in creating works of art in multiple media, including but not limited to, drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, computer graphics, printmaking, collage, mixed media, and learning about art history.
In addition to supporting teachers in the delivery of curriculum, the department sponsors the Three-Dimensional Exhibit, the North, Central, and South Countywide Art Exhibits, as well as several statewide art exhibits. Furthermore, central office staff can conduct informal and formal observations, provide needs-based professional development (including arts integration lessons and activities), and provide visual art support for lesson planning and demonstration lessons.
