Observational Art works result from the observed study of subjects on their own terms. This could include a study of the behaviour of light, forms, colours, textures, etc.

Expressive Art

Expressive Art results from the emotional response to a stimulus. The artist could be, for example, working from an emotional state or they could be responding to music or the behavior of the material itself.
