Solutions: Success for Life Award

Award Description:

A $100.00 “Solutions: Success for Life Award” is available each academic year for school sites to recognize a graduating student who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in his or her Workplace courses, GLN (Navigating the Workplace) or Co-operative Education placements during this school year.

Audience:

This award is to be given to a student who is entering one of the following 3 pathways including:

World of Work, Apprenticeship, or College. Please choose only one student per site.

Selection Criteria for Award:

Students must:

  • have completed all of the requirements for obtaining an OSS Diploma, or an OSS Certificate;
  • have attained outstanding achievement in the view of their employer(s) and co-operative education teacher(s) in their co-op placement;
  • have demonstrated dedication to pursuing a pathway to a career.

Selection Committee:

A school-based committee will determine one recipient per school.

Presentation of the Award:

The award is to be presented as part of the school’s graduation ceremony in June by a school staff member.

OYAP “Tools of the Trade” Bursary

Bursary Description:

This will be the eighth year that the $250.00 OYAP “Tools of the Trade” Bursary has been offered to a graduating student who will be continuing in the apprenticeship pathway.

Audience:

An OYAP student who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in his or her Co-operative Education placement and plans to continue in the trade by either apprenticeship with an employer (traditional apprenticeship pathway) or by entering a diploma program at a community college will be recognized with the OYAP “Tools of the Trade” Bursary.

Selection Criteria for Award:

Students must:

  • have completed all the requirements for obtaining an OSS Diploma, or an OSS Certificate;
  • have attained outstanding achievement in the view of their employer(s) and Co-operative Education teachers in their co-op placement;
  • have demonstrated dedication to pursuing the apprenticeship pathway

Toolbelt Award

The Toolbelt Award is available to recognize a student from each school who has completed a construction credit or participated in the Housebuilding Program.

Selection Criteria for Award

Students must have:

  • completed all the requirements for obtaining an OSSC or an OSSD;
  • completed a Construction credit and/or completed the Housebuilding Program and achieved the highest level; and,
  • demonstrated dedication to pursuing the apprenticeship pathway - continuing on with their employer or entering a diploma program in the College pathway post secondary.
