Long-Term Assignments

Independent Reading Projects

Three times this year (once per term), you will read a book of your choosing and select a project to complete. You have nine project choices, so no repeats! See the attached choiceboard for further information on project options.

Assignment Preview: In-Class Journals

Throughout the school year, from September through May, you will spend some time freewriting. This assignment will be completed in class every third Friday. The purpose of your journals is simply to get you writing. As a means to this end, you may choose to write about whatever topic you wish, (though I will provide a prompt each time to help inspire you). You could use these journals to react to in-class discussions or topics, or you may describe experiences you have outside of school. You can choose to use your journal as a creative writing outlet and construct a story or a series of poems over the course of the year. You may switch topics each time if you like; write freely without fear of grammatical corrections. The only things you can expect to see on your journals is an occasional question/comment from me. So have fun with this! I hope this will be an enjoyable writing experience for you. *Preferred method of submission is through Google Classroom, however, handwritten or printed copies are also acceptable. See the section below for a sample journal.
