Math

I understand that Common Core Math can be frustrating... I get it. We all learned math in a different way. I know it must be difficult to feel like your child has to try these new methods and you aren't sure how to help them. The truth is, teaching students that there is only one right way to solve a problem isn't what's best for them. Some students will always struggle with the traditional methods. It's my job as the teacher to teach the kids multiple ways of doing things so more of my students are able to successfully tackle math problems.

As we jump into the 4th grade curriculum, all I ask of you is to have patience with the process. The kids will still learn the "old" way in 5th grade. I ask that all of my students try the different ways to solve problems and in the end, they choose whichever method works best for them.

I'll be adding links to video tutorials of how to do the different methods, especially for the multi-digit multiplication and long division units. If you don't find what you need, please don't hesitate to give me a call or stop in.
