The Executive Board

Jairis Araiza - President

Hello! My name is Jairis Araiza Olmedo, and I am the Student Body President for the 2023 - 2024 school year. When I began high school, I did not plan on being a member of the council. Now, I’m proud to say that I have been a member of our Student Council since my Sophomore year of high school. I am a member of the Girls Volleyball team, National Art Honors Society, Art Club, and Chess Club. Joining Student Council helped me put myself out there and allowed me to meet new people. I’m open minded and determined to create a more student led environment, therefore, don’t be afraid to reach out to me! Student Council is my passion - I am very excited for what the future holds and hope to see our student body jump all in!

if Student Council had 20 members im one of them, if it had 1 member it’s me, if it had 0 members im dead…

If you have any questions or thoughts you’d like to share, you can talk to me or my fellow members about it. -btw you’re always welcome to join us in our adventure :D

After high school I plan to go to college to study politics and government where I’ll use my knowledge and skills to become the next Mayor of New Brunswick! Feel free to talk to me anytime about anything! I’m very open to people’s perspectives, opinions, concerns, and ideas.

Cindi Martinez

Events Coordinator

Hello lovely people! My name is Cindi Martinez. I am one of the Events Coordinators at NBHS. I joined the student council my sophomore year of high school to be part of a community who uplifts and makes school a fun and united place. My hobbies consist of reading accompanied by boba, and also being part of our track and field team. I look forward to creating, developing, and promoting our student organizations and creating a space where every voice is heard. I want to help develop a clear direction for each organization and to evaluate and implement new ideas.  The core elements I’ve taken away from student council so far are memorable memories and a sense of community that has helped me build communication skills. I plan to take these important factors with me!
