About Kelly
Kelly Hanning is an artist and art educator who believes that anyone with an idea can be an artist. Kelly currently teaches in the Gates Chili School District, serving students in kindergarten through 5th-grade. In addition, she adjuncts for Nazareth College’s Art and Design Department, as the instructor of record for courses in the Art Education and Studio Art programs. Kelly acts as the Region 2 co-chair for the New York State Art Teachers Association, consistently presents at State and National Art Education Association Conferences, and regularly publishes peer-reviewed articles in the National Art Education Association journal. As a printmaker, Kelly participates in local and national juried exhibitions, with work curated in over 12 states. Kelly’s passion for Art Education began in 4th grade when she started teaching classmates how to draw beanie babies during recess- and evolved when she discovered the power of art in her own and others’ lives. She strives to bring out the inner artist and art educator in all students, amplifying student voice and choice every day, while connecting students to audiences beyond the art classroom.
