“One Book One Community” - The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, The Horse book discussion outdoors (focusing on K-5, 6-12 grade community, all ages welcome)

TBD:

August 5-26 (stops TBD)

Special programming:

“One Book One Community” program:

An online or outdoor conversation (with snacks provided) about the book, The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and The Horse, will be held monthly, June-August, with school-age community members to exchange ideas, build empathy, increase compassion, and strengthen resiliency. The age groups are:

*Elementary School, grades K-5, encourage social connections while continuing strengthening literacy skills through summer

*Teens/YA, grades 6-12, provide an outlet to connect and socialize around an upbeat, optimistic theme

At each Tri-Town Bookmobile - One Book One Community program meeting:

*participants choose and share a favorite page or quote from the book, and explain why it resonates and why it’s their favorite

*Which character do you think you are most like right now? (at future meetings - have you changed the character you are most like since last time, if so, why?)

*What are you learning from the story? From the discussion? From our last conversation?

By discussing this inspirational book with students it will increase the tools the younger community members have to improve communication. The students can share what they discussed in the “Tri-Town Bookmobile - One Book One Community” program with classmates, teachers, and family members. The goal is to have empathy and understanding spread organically through our community and reach a higher tolerance of diversity and inclusion especially during challenging times.

If you are interested in participating in the Tri-Town Bookmobile - One Book One Community program, please contact Laura laura.cashell@msad60.org
