The following community resources have been identified to help students during distance learning.

School meal service

All students enrolled in an MPS school are eligible to participate in the MPS School Meal Box pick-up and remain available during distance learning.

Mental health support

To ensure your child gets the best mental health support, families should contact their child's social worker and review these resources.

Tutoring/homework help

Hennepin County Library provides free online tutoring service through your Twin Cities metro public libraries.

  • Grades K–12

  • 1 p.m.–11 p.m. every day

  • Available in English and Spanish

  • Covers all major subject areas: Math, Science, English/Language Arts, Social Studies, Reading Assistance

  • Provides one-to-one live homework help from online tutors

  • Accessible from home or any computer (there’s an app too)

  • Also includes Adult Learning Center that helps adults achieve their learning and career goals with live one-on-one academic coaching, practice test center, and online resources.

ConneXions Tutoring provides free ​tutoring services for students in grades 2-12 with tutoring sessions up to one hour long.

Enrichment activities (virtual and in-person)

Minneapolis Park & Rec Board provides virtual and in-person programs at parks throughout the city including Youth Sports Leagues

YMCA Twin Cities- Y at Home provides live fitness training, challenges for kids, cooking classes and more.

YWCA Girls and Youth programs prepare youth to be learners, leaders and creators of change. These programs empower youth to hone their leadership and decision-making skills, adopt healthier and more active lifestyles, pursue their academic interests in the science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) fields and much more.
