Test Retake Policy

AP Statistics - Assessment Corrections/Retake Policies & Procedures

After MOST of your Individual Assessments, you will have the opportunity to do CORRECTIONS and/or RETAKES.

The following instructions highlight the process for completing the corrections and/or retakes process.

MULTIPLE CHOICE

  • The Multiple Choice section factors into your PRACTICE (10%) part of your grade.
  • There will be a “Multiple Choice Correction Sheet” to use.
  • Each Individual Assessment with have a Multiple Choice section. This section with most often have 10 questions. You will get a score of 4, 3, 2, or 1 based on the following scale:

4 = 10-8 Correct 3 = 7-6 Correct 2 = 5-4 Correct 1 = 3-0 Correct

  • The very next class AFTER we take the Individual Assessment you will likely get your Individual Assessment back.
  • You will be given 15 minutes to come up with the correct solutions to the multiple choice questions you get wrong.
  • You also need to provide a brief description of what you did wrong & what you should do.
  • Once you have corrected ALL multiple choice questions you got wrong AND have given a brief explanation, your score will be bumped up by 1.
  • Ex: If you got a 3 & corrected ALL questions you got wrong & w/ explanations, your score turns into a 4.
  • If you are gone the day we pass back Individual Assessments but still want to do corrections on your Multiple Choice section, you need to arrange a separate time to come in & complete them (Before/After school, Advisory Study Hall, Lunch - NOT ASR).

FREE RESPONSE

  • The Free Response section factors into your INDIVIDUAL ASSESSMENT (90%) part of your grade.
  • There will be a “Free Response Correction Sheet” to use.
  • In order to RETAKE any part of the Free Response section of the test that you felt like you didn’t do well on, you have to come in during ASR (or another designated time discussed with your AP Statistics teacher) and do corrections to said sections.
  • Once you have done the sections correctly, your AP Statistics teacher has to go over it with you. If they are satisfied with your corrections, they will sign off on them. This is your ticket to retake those sections.
  • You may only do retakes if your teacher has signed off on your corrections; you may NOT do retakes if you have not done corrections.
  • Retakes may be taken the next ASR. Retakes cannot be done on the same day as your corrections are completed on.
  • You may only retake problems you have corrected.
  • You do not need to retake the entire problem, though you may need to do other parts of the problem to come up with the solution to the part you are retaking.
  • The BEST SCORE on the section will hold in the gradebook (The best score between the original test & the retake).

DEADLINE

  • You have until the ASR BEFORE the next Individual Assessment to do corrections/retakes on the previous Individual Assessment.
  • Ex. You have until the last ASR before Chapter 2 Individual Assessment to do corrections/retakes on Chapter 1 Individual Assessment.
