NEWS!

HAVE A WELL RESTED & DESERVED BREAK EVERYONE!

10/8/2021 to 10/11/2021

The Lord taught the Pharisees that words do reveal character. He said,

“…for the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart” (Matt. 12:34).

Our mouths speak words that originate from the heart and reveals elements of one’s character.

Hey students and teachers, do not forget to place money in the 10 cent meal containers in each classroom. This money is for children in Haiti. They will be in a Christian school and receive an education, Bible class, and a bowl of rice with nutrients. You have until Thursday to turn this money in.

Drop Off/Pick Up

Thank you for your flexibility as we adjust our drop off and pick up due to the needs of the construction taking place on the secondary campus. As soon as construction is finished, I will send out a final diagram of drop off and pick up to be followed for the 2021-2022 academic year. For now, please continue to follow Mr. Harwood’s previous email of middle school parents staying in the left lane and moving to the right after passing the high school building. Once the far right lane is full, parents can begin filling up the left lane all the way to the elementary building crosswalk. Additionally, high school parents who do not have elementary or middle school students are encouraged to come after 3:00pm.

Handbook/Dress Code

It is an expectation that every parent and student be familiar with the Parent/Student Handbook. All LWC families have signed that you agree to abide by the policies it contains during the re-enrollment or admission process. Please make sure you read through it. I attached a PDF of the Secondary Dress Code from the Parent/Student Handbook to the email containing this update for your convenience. Compared to other private schools, LWC has a laxed dress code and provides students with a variety of options to ensure a professional look while being comfortable in class. Please make sure you are staying within those guidelines. If you read through the dress code and notice that you have not been in compliance the first two weeks, please note that we have not assigned any demerits so far this year. However, we will begin tracking dress code infractions on Monday.

Virtual Learning

Virtual learning is reserved exclusively for COVID-19 concerns this year. Families who have a COVID-19 concern that could impact a student’s ability to attend campus should email me directly (zwingate@lwcs.org) so I can evaluate your request.

Clubs/Extracurricular Activities

Due to the high levels of COVID-19 in our county, and the difficulty of contact tracing in the secondary due to frequent student movement, we are postponing most of our extracurricular activities except for athletics indefinitely. As soon as the numbers drop to a more manageable level, we will look to launch our clubs, small groups, and leadership programs. We anticipate being able to start those activities before the end of the first quarter.

Picture Day

LWC Fall Picture Day is Wednesday, August 25th. You should have received an email from Mrs. Cronin, our Yearbook Coordinator, with details. Please reach out to her directly if you have any questions (kcronin@lwcs.org).

Student Absences

Please report student absences as soon as you know they will not be in school. You can report absences by going to our website (www.lwcs.org) under the ‘parents’ tab, by emailing ngray@lwcs.org, or calling our secondary office (561-586-8216 opt. 4).
