Important Information:

  • We make vocabulary cards for each chapter and will frequent pop quizzes on the words. Scholars should be continuously studying the meanings of these words. This will help with problem solving skills in word problems and other areas. Vocabulary words posted in ClassDojo!
  • Math homework is given every night Monday - Thursday: please check to make sure your scholar has completed it and packs their math book back in their backpacks.
  • We are doing multiplication drills because I've noticed that a lot of the scholars don't know their multiplication facts which is essential for them to be successful this year!
  • Scholars should spend time each night reviewing the notes from that day, with or without assigned homework. Scholars should also be proficient in math facts of all operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
  • PLEASE remember that I prefer for you all to contact me on ClassDojo. It is the quickest way to get a response from me. If you email me it may take longer to give you a reply.

Studying for Math

Below are some great websites to use as resources for studying for Math. Additionally, there are many online practice tests and websites with free worksheets (and answer keys!) to help with mastering the current skills we are studying in class. I would encourage you to utilize these resources as a way to help your child succeed in math!

Our new curriculum has many advantages, including the online resources available for reinforcing concepts at home. Did you know there is a reteaching Math On-the-Spot video for each lesson available to you on the ThinkCentral website? Please be sure to contact the 5th grade team with any questions.

If your child has lost or destroyed their math book, it is important that a new one be purchased for them. The workbook is the only book for Math (no additional text book) and is referenced every day. Classwork and homework grades come from these books as well. The purchase price for an additional Math workbook is $10 (cash only), which is the school's cost for these workbooks.
