My name is Michaela Baker and I am 18 years old and currently a senior at TC Roberson High School. I was born in Asheville, North Carolina and I have lived there my entire life. I have a mom, dad, and a little brother who is 13 years old, a cat named Puff, and a few fish.
I haven’t missed a day of school since I started and I work hard in school. My favorite subjects are Health and Biology. I have taken every health class at my high school and I am currently working at getting my CNA licenses, which is one of the first steps to my goal of becoming a Nurse Practitioner after I graduate. I currently work at a local diner that has been in business for 21 years called Corner Grill, and I love working there and seeing the customers each day, which many I know by name since I have worked there for almost a year and a half now.
My parents names are Mike and Cheri Baker and they are my biggest supporters. They have taught me many lessons and have molded me into who I am today. Whether I was playing softball or presenting a project they were always there cheering me on. I played softball for nine years of my life and it was also a huge part of who I am today. I learned countless lessons such as, teamwork and never to give up. Many of my close friends today I met playing softball.
I have been interested in the healthcare field ever since my freshman year of high school when I took my first Biomedical Technology class. My strong interest in medicine has influenced me to do my Graduation Project on Wound Care. By doing this I will get to see what it is like to work in a hospital first hand and get a feel of what the atmosphere is like. I hope to learn through this experience if I really want to pursue a career in the healthcare field or not. If I do enjoy this experience then I will become a Nurse Practitioner and continue my education of nursing in the healthcare field.
