Adventures in Mrs. Mulvey's Art Classroom

Stony Creek Elementary

Happy New School Year - 2019/2020

As we begin our new school year, let's look back on some of the artistic highlights from last year, by joining our classroom mascots as they head out on an ArtSea adventure!

Last year, students got right to work, creating art that paired each grades' curriculum with projects, to enhance funds for our art room supplies through the OriginalWorks program. Many parents ordered their student's art to be printed on all sorts of different objects. We will participate in this program again this year. 2nd grade's musical winter performance was enhanced by their giant snowman they created in the art classroom.

Third grades 3-d snowman helped to round out the winter display

I missed the opportunity to photograph so many wonderful projects by my 4th and 5th graders, even when they were displayed in the halls. I won't let that happen this year. My older students created metal animal masks, op art illusions, interior rooms in one point linear perspective and positive and negative zentangles on scratch board. I did get pictures of 2nd and third grades spring 3-d displays including third grade woven stuffed creatures and second grades wooden fairy tale sculptures

5th grade finished the year by creating foil sculptures, which they were taught to animate in their chrome books by our LMC director, Mrs. Hosler.

Stony Creek artists represented our school with their beautiful artwork at the 2019 Jeffco Foundation Elementary Art Show at Red Rocks Community College. Thirteen of our artists had work in the show.
