Department of Metallurgical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi takes pride on its glorious past. This used to be the place for luminaries. This department remains to be the silent observer of inception of many fields of research, which later provided directions to many other departments and institutes. We take pride on our history. The department has given birth to many towering personalities whom metallurgical and materials community would remember for years to come. However, it does not make us great! Neither we would like to stand on the shoulder of giants. We are the commoners in the crowd, those who are trying to derive pleasure by learning and teaching microscopy and microanalysis. January 05, 2024: Aashrita received offer from Minnesota and from UC, San Diego for graduate studies. Congratulations!!!
February 16, 2023: Swarnendu receives the offer from UPenn to join there as a graduate student beginning this Fall. He has decided to turn down the offer from Minnesota. He is looking forward to work with Prof. Eric Stach at UPenn. I am sure he will enjoy his stay in that group. Congratulations Swarnendu!
January 24, 2023: Avnish defends his Ph.D. thesis. Prof. N. Ravishankar is again the expert. He visits the department in 7 days notice. Thank you Ravi for being so much supportive!!! This is the third time Ravi is in Varanasi in last two months. Some folks have already asked me whether Ravi lives in Varanasi or he is a daily passenger! We went with him to Keshariya Thall. Had a good time there. Avnish will be joining KIT, Germany with Christian Kuebel as a Post Doctoral Fellow. Wish him all the best!!!
January 15, 2023: Sai receives the final confirmation for DAAD-WISE fellowship. He will be spending three months in KIT, Germany with Subin Lee this summer working on in-situ microscopy. Congratulations Sai!!!
December 12, 2022: Sandeep defends his Ph. D. thesis. Congratulations Sandeep!! Prof. Subhrangshu Bhattacharya visited as expert and delivered an excellent lecture. We had a gala time with Subhrangshu! We would like him to be back to the department again.Â
November 24, 2022: Ankit defends his Ph. D. thesis. Congratulations! Prof. N. Ravishankar visited Varanasi as the expert. We had a Post Defence lunch at Crystal Bowl. Ankit will be joining National Institute for Materials Science, Tsukuba, Japan as Post Doctoral Fellow. Wish you all the best!!!
November 14, 2022: Finally the dream comes true!! The web page, which was in pipeline for quite a few years, becomes alive through the sincere effort of Swarnendu and Sai Saswat. Thank you Swarnendu and Sai.
