May 20:

Our Last Day of 3rd grade! To celebrate there are a couple of fun things today. These are things that we would have done all together in our classroom over the past 2 months so make sure to take pictures and videos to share with everyone!

1. Clean! As most of you know, the last days of school have lots of cleaning involved so your parents have free reign to tell you what to clean and for how long!

2. Bike Rodeo! Make an obstacle course that you can travel through on your bike! Then give your bike a wash and decorate it using some fun items (pipe cleaners, streamers or anything you want!) Then take a bike ride with your family! Check out the link below - it gives you more infomation about a Bike Rodeo, what we would have done if we are in school and even a sample obstacle course.

3. Track and Field Day! If you need some inspiration check out this website!

4. Perform a Musical! Ok maybe not a whole musical but a song and dance for sure! Or just use this video as challenge that you are your family have to perform. Take a video and share with everyone on the Homeroom App.

5. Field Trip! We haven't had one of those in a WHILE. But use the link below to take a virtual one - you can even go to Disney World in the second link!

May 19:

Christ Light - Read 13B Job with a family member. Go through the Parents and Kids Activities and close with Prayer.

Math - Complete BOTH sides of Guided Class Practice 135AB.

English/Language Arts - Reading for 20 minutes - only one more day to get your AR goal. Complete Spelling Practice Lesson 30.

Science - Today we are going to complete the "s" page which talks about the Rock Cycle. Use website below to learn about the rock cycle. Then use the half sheet of paper seen below to cut out the boxes and glue them in the correct order. When you complete your whole book, show the class through a video on the Homeroom App!

Science - Today you are goin to fill out the "n" page. First complete the BrainPOP activity labeled "Types of Rocks" Then complete the page by drawing a picture and labeling the 3 types of rocks.

May 11:

Christ Light - Read 11B Daniel and Belshazzar with a family member. Make a coded message from your memory work (Romans 6:23) for a member of your family to solve! For example 1=A, 2=B and so on.

Math - Complete Fact Assessment 25-2 and Written Assessment 25 on your own and have a parent check your work. Correct any that are wrong. We will not be using Lesson Worksheet 130-2.

English/Language Arts - 20 minutes of reading (try reading outside if it is nice out today!) and complete 1 box on your orange reading menu 4. Complete Monday of Book4 Week 2 Language Review. Complete Spelling Practice Lesson 28 one side.

Science - We are moving on to study Rocks and Minerals! Today you need to cut out and staple together our learning book (these are all the papers with one letter on them). Make sure to check the picture below before you start cutting. Cut on the gray dotted lines or around the pictures. Complete the "i" page by using the Rocks and Minerals link below.

Social Studies - Finish filling out your Reflection Journal this week. This will be a great thing to keep - even as you get older, to remember this time of living history!

Math - Complete Fact Assessment 25-1. To review coordinate planes, play the game Battleship! If you have the board game at home, great! Otherwise play online (click the purple box labeled "Battleship" below) Notice as you play how coordinate planes are useful in that game. Complete Lesson Worksheet 130-1 and send a picture of your completed work through email or the Homeroom App. Complete the Problem Solving Worksheet 130AB - use the make it simpler strategy and find the unit cost of the items to solve. If you have time, complete Fact Homework 130.

English/Language Arts - 20 minutes of reading and complete 1 box on the Orange Reading Menu 4. Complete Thursday of the Book 4 Language Review.

Science - Finish any BrainPOP videos. Complete the Describing Weather page. Fill in the last day of your weather graph. And watch "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" the movie (if you own it) to celebrate our Weather Unit! Otherwise listen to the story again :) Show me your completed Weather Flipbook through a video shared on the Homeroom App.

Social Studies - Share one of your favorite reflection journal enteries on the Homeroom App. If you have time, read "Inside the Rise of Graphic Novels" Time for Kids (found in your "Nonfiction Reading Folder").

May 7:

Math - Complete Class Fact Practice 129AB. Watch Introduction to Coordinate Planes video (click the purple box labeled "Introduction to Coordinate Planes" below) On Lesson Worksheet 129, add an x and a y axis (in the middle vertically and horizontonally), put zero where the lines cross, then add the following ordered pairs by putting a dot where the 2 numbers intersect. Check my example below before you begin so that you complete it correctly.

Science - You will be recording the weather this week on the last page of your flip book titles "Our Weather Graph" Fill in each appropriate box each day - for example if it is sunny and windy, color one box above sunny and one box above windy. Social Studies - Continue to complete the pages in your Reflection Journal. You can show the class your favorite through the Homeroom App whenever you complete that page this week.

Math - Complete Fact Assessment 24-2 and Written Assessment 24. Have a parent correct your work and fix any that are wrong. We will use Lesson Worksheet 125-2ABC, if you have time. First label the intermediate directions on the compass rose. Then color the states according to the list on Lesson Worksheet 125-2C. The last 4 states are to be colored with your choice, different than all the other colors surrounding those states. Save this map for Math on Monday.

English/Language Arts - 20 minutes of reading but you dont have to fill in a box on the blue Reading Menu :) Complete Thursday of Book3 Language Review Week 2.

Science - We are on the "Parts of Weather" page in the flipbook. Reading "Let's Read to Learn ... Meteorologists" After reading, you get to watch the weather report either live on the news in the morning or evening or you can use the link below labeled NBC26 weather (click the purple box "NBC26 weather") After watching, fill in the boxes with some of the vocabulary used by the meteorologist to describe temperature, wind, precipitation and cloud cover.

April 29:

Math - Complete Fact Assessment 24-1. Today we are finding unit cost - or the cost of one item - using division. Complete Lesson Worksheet 125-1A first filling in the chart, then answers the question. If you have time, use SplashLearn to review dividing by 6,8 and 9. Complete Lesson Workdsheet 125-1BC and Class Fact Practice 125A only. Then pick one side of Guided Class Practice 125AB to complete.

English/Language Arts - 20 minutes of reading and complete one box on the blue Reading Menu 3. Try one of the different ways to read today - either listen to some books on epic or myON or use one of the Home Learning Menus for some different ideas. Complete Wednesday of the Book3 Language review Week 2.

April 28:

Christ Light - Pick a lesson to reread (7A, 7B, 8A, or 8B) somehow (through video, to your pet, with a microphone - have fun!) Share your memory work (7th petition) the same way! If you want you can even share with the class through the Homeroom App.

Math - Complete either Class Fact Practice or Oral Fact Practice 124AB. Today we are starting long division. Watch both the videos labeled Long Division 1 and 2 as an introdution (click on the purple button labeled "Long Division 1"then "Long Division 2") It talks about the 4 major steps - Divide, Multiply, Subtract and Bring Down. After you watch the video, pratice with the 4 problems below. Send me any questions and send me a picture or your work when you are done. This will take lots of practice so don't worry if you are struggling a bit today - just keep trying! Complete the division problems in #6 on both sides of Guided Class Practice 124AB as each practice - don't forget to check your answer by multiplying. Then pick one side to complete.

Christ Light - Read 8B The Shunammite Woman with a family member. Go through the Parents and Kids section. Memory work is the 7th petition of the Lord's Prayer. Close with the prayer.

Math - Complete Class Fact Practice 123AB. Watch the video on Negative Numbers (click the purple box labeled "Negative Numbers") To practice, complete #2 on both sides of Guided Class Practice 123AB, then choose one side to complete.

English/Language Arts - 20 minutes of reading and complete one box on the blue Reading Menu. Complete Monday of the Book3 Language Review WEEK 2 (same pack just the second sheet). Complete this week the Spelling Practice Sheet labeled Lesson 26. You can also use Spelling City to play some games using these words if you have time.

Social Studies - Continue to complete some Reflection Journal Entries. You will share your favorite at the end of the week.

Science - We are going to start filling out the "All About Weather" flipbook. Today you should make your flip book. First, cut carefully along the dark black lines (the printer didn't print them exactly front to back so be careful as you do this) Then, fold each page along the very faint gray line. Insert the pages into each other along those folds. Staple, if you want, along the fold. See the example picture.

April 24:

Math - Complete either Oral Fact Practice 122AB or Class Fact Practice 122AB. We are working on dividing by multiples of 10 today. Watch the video "Dividing by Multiples of 10" (click the purple box). For extra practice you need to complete the division problem in #6 on both sides of Guided Class Practice 122AB - make sure to check your division by multiplying. Then, pick one side to finish. (You will need your Lesson Worksheet 120-2 for help with prime numbers - make sure you have the correct prime numbers circled at the top)

English/Language Arts - Read for 20 minutes - maybe try some nonfiction today! Complete one box on the blue Reading Menu 3.

Math - Complete Class Fact Practice 121AB. Today we are going to finding the volume of a rectangular prism. Watch the video "Volume of Rectangular Prism" (click the purple button). Complete Lesson Worksheet 121 - how many cubes the length, the height and the width are, fill in the total number of cubes found in each shape (LxWxH) Then on the line write your answer using the label "cubic units". Share your work through the Homeroom App. Complete the A side of Guided Class Practice 121.

English/Language Arts - 20 minutes of reading then complete a square on your blue Reading Menu. Remember you can listen to the books on the Read Aloud page too! Complete Thursday of the Book3 Language Review.

April 22:

Christ Light - Read 7B Naboth's Vineyard. Go through the Parents and Kids activities and close with the prayer.

Math - Complete the Fact Assessment 23-2 and Written Assessment 23. Have a parent check your work and fix any mistakes. Watch the videos of me teaching you how to complete Lesson Worksheet 120-2 (click the purple button labeled Factors and Prime Numbers #1, #2 and finally #3)

English/Language Arts - Complete another box on your blue Reading Menu 3. Complete Wednesday of the Book3 Language Review.

Science - Today you will be starting the Types of Clouds Poster. We will finish the poster over the next 3 days. You will label the 3 sections of the piece of blue construction paper in your pack Low Clouds, Middle Clouds and High Clouds. Then, using the cotton balls (you might need some more - I ran out!) stretched and shaped to look like each cloud in each level, you will glue them down using the bottle of glue. You will also need a gray or black marker to make the clouds the right color. Check the Homeroom App for a picture of the completed project.

April 21:

Christ Light - Reread 7A Ahab and Elijah. Discuss with a family member how God showed the unbelievers at Mount Caramel that he is the true God. Close with the Lord's Prayer.

Math - Complete Fact Assessment 23-1. Complete the Multiplication Table on Lesson Worksheet 120-1A. This will be a really useful tool for memorizing multiplication facts. I have a completed one below so that you can check your answers. Watch the Multiples of 8 video (click on the purple button below labeled "Multiples of 8") and complete Lesson Worksheet 120-1B. Use your multiplication table to complete Class Fact Practice 120AB. Finally complete Problem Solving Worksheet 120AB using the work backward and guess and check strategies.

English/Language Arts - Complete another box on your blue reading menu. Make sure to use the self check boxes on the first page, after writing, check the rubric at the bottom of your sheet. Complete Tuesday of the Book 3 of your Language review sheets.

April 20:

Math - Pick one - Oral Fact Practice or Class Fact Practice 119 to complete. Complete Lesson Worksheet 119 - we are practicing writing measurements in cm, mm or even both. When you use mm, use the small lines on the ruler. When you use both, put down how many cm's then how many extra mm's. When you use only cm, you will write the number as a decimal. I have done the first one for you below.

We are also going to work on some Grammar review using the pack of sheets marked "5-a-day Language Review Book 3" (orange). I have a grammar reference sheet below if you are stuck.

Science - We are going to begin a simple unit on Weather. To start, listen to "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" in the Read Alouds by Mrs. Battermann section.

Social Studies - Continue working on the pages in your Reflection Journal. You will share your favorite entry from the week on Friday.

Christ Light - Read 6A Solomon Becomes King. If you have time, work through the Parents and Kids Activities. Discuss Memory Work Psalm 119:105. Pray Together.

Math - Complete Fact Assessment 22-2 and Written Assessment 22. Adults can correct it and students can fix any that need a second look with an adult. Today we get to take a look at geometric solids. Watch the video Geometric Shapes (click the purple box labeled Geometric Shapes) If you have time, you get to make your own cube using the Lesson Worksheet 115-2. Make sure to cut around the outside of the net on the dark black lines (leave all the flaps attached) Fold on all the dotted lines and tape together. We will use this cube again in Lesson 121 so keep it around :) You can show me your cube, if you want, using the Homeroom App.

English/Language Arts - For your 20 minutes of reading today, try building a fort using blankets and chairs to read inside! Don't forget to complete one of the boxes on your reading menu! You can work on Spelling Practice Lesson 24 this week or do some of the activities on Spelling City.

Science - This week, pick a different science booklet to look through or complete, if you have some extra time.

April 9:

Christ Light - Reread 5B Absalom Sins Against His Father. If you have your tally chart up from yesterday's Parents and Kids activities, you could make a card for mom or dad, telling how you love them and how you are sorry for the times you sinned against them. That would count as at least one tally!

Math - Complete Fact Assessment 22-1. We are working on Multiplying by 6 today. You can use Lesson Worksheet 115-1 and Class Fact Practice 115AB to help practice those. Complete 1 side of Guided Class Practice/Homework 115AB.

English/Language Arts - Turn off all the lights and grab a flashlight for 20 minutes of reading today! Complete a square from your Reading Menu!

Social Studies - Share your favorite reflection journal entry with the class through picture or short video on the Homeroom App

Science - In your envelope there are 3 science booklets about energy. Pick one booklet to read and look through this week. There are some fun activities you can complete as well!

April 7:

Christ Light - Reread 5A David Sins. If you have time, check out the Veggie Tales video "King George and the Ducky" (click the purple box below labeled King George and the Ducky). Discuss similarities between King George, King David and ourselves. Say your Memory treasure - Matthew 26:41 as the closing.

Math - Complete Class Fact Practice 113AB. Listen to Angles Song (click the purple box labeled "Angles Song") Then use Lesson Worksheet 113A. Cut apart the squares and group each square by type of angle. Put the angles in order from smallest to largest - the squares in order should spell out a secret code. (You can send me the secret code through the Homeroom App). Then label the triangles on Lesson Worksheet 113B based on their angles (right, actue or obtuse). Complete 1 side of Guided Class Practice/Homework 113AB.

English/Language Arts - Same as previous days. Complete a square on Reading Menu 2.

April 6:

Christ Light - Read 5A David Sins with a family member. If you have time, work through Parents and Kids activities and go through Memory Work Matthew 26:41. Close with Prayer.

Math - Complete Oral Fact Practice 112AB or Class Fact Practice/Homework 112AB. Today we are learning how to multiply a one-digit number by a two digit number using mental math.

2x47 Frist we write 47 in expanded form like this - 2 x (40 +7)

Then multiply 2 x 40 = 80 and 2 x 7= 14

Finally add the answers together 80+14= 94. Make sure to have all this work on your scratch paper/assignment - do not erase!

Social Studies - In your pack for the next 8 days is a reflection journal. This is a place for you to think and write about all the changes that are happening in the world around us due to COVID-19. You can pick the pages you would like to complete and the order in which you want to complete them. I will ask you to share one of the pages later on in the week. Have fun!

Christ Light - Sing and watch "More Than Conquerors" https://vimeo.com/359487845 Reread 4B - The Deaths of Saul and Jonathan. Play Ding Dong Ditch - Random Acts of Kindness Edition with a neighbor. Write a special note with your memory treasure on it (Matthew 22:39b) and include a special treat (prepackaged food, homemade cookies or just a picture your drew!) Check pinterest for ideas if you are very stuck :) Think about how you can still show love to your neighbor during this time where we are trying to keep apart. Feel free to send me a photo of what you and your family did! And have fun!

Math - Complet Class Fact Practice 111AB using 3 minute timing. Do not complete x9 wrap up box. Watch the video to introduce Fractional Part of a Set (click the purple box labeled "Fractional Part of a Set" below) Complete Lesson Worksheet 111. For this you will need 12 pennies. Start with the circle divided into halves and put the same number of pennies in each circle. Write your answer on the line below the circle. Continue with the circle divided into thirds, then forths, and finally sixths. Use the circles to complete the bottom portion, changing the total number of pennies you are using. For example, the first problem wants us to find one half of ten. So we would use the circle divided into halves and only use 10 pennies. Complete Gudied Class Practice/ Homework 111AB

April 2:

Christ Light - Read 4B - The Deaths of Saul and Jonathan with a family member. Work through the Parent and Kids activities. Go through Memory Treasure Matthew 22:39b. Close with prayer.

Math - Complete Fact Assessment 21-2 using 5 minute timing, you can work on the bonus facts on the back if you are finished before the 5 minutes is up. Complete Written Assessment 21. Have a parent check your work and fix any that are wrong. Watch and listen to Transformation video (click on the purple box labeled "Trasnformation video" below). Use Lesson Worksheet 110-2 - we are still rotating, translating, or reflecting but with letters instead of shapes. Cut off the bottom portion of the paper. Start with C and follow the directions drawing how C would look in each transformation in the first box. Then cut out Z and repeat. Finally, pick one last letter from the remaining letters and complete the 3rd box.

English/Language Arts - Same as Day 1. If you need some variety, try changing your reading spot!

April 1:

Christ Light - Reread 4A- David's Kindness to Saul. Discuss taking revenge/getting even in our lives and give examples of how David repaid Saul's evilness with kindness throughout the story. Close with the Lord's Prayer.

Math - Complete Fact Assessment 21-1 using 2 minute timing. Complete Lesson Worksheet 110-1 and Class Fact Practice 110AB on multiplying by 9. Remember you can always check to see if your answer for multiplying by 9 fact is correct because the sun of the digits will always equal 9. Complete 2 of the Splash Math Assignment on Multiplying by 9. Complete Problem Solving Worksheet 110AB. Start on the A side. Read the problem. Underline what we need to show. Put parenthesis around the information we will use to solve the problem. We will use "Make a Table" problem solving strategy to solve this. Draw a table in the box with 2 rows labeled "Tickets" and the other "Cost". Fill in the cost for 1-6 tickets. Make sure to answer both questions under the box. Side B has the same type of problem.

English/Language Arts - Same as Day 1, but today try listening to a book on Epic, Audible or through YouTubes Storyline Online group of stories read to you. Don't forget to pick a question to answer in complete sentences on your green sheet.

March 31:

Math - Complete Class Fact Practice 108AB using 2 minute timing. Do not complete x3 speed wrap up box. Use Lesson Worksheet 108. Much like Friday, start by underlining the question and putting parenthesis around information you will use to solve the problem. Acting out the problem today is optional. Then write the division number sentence and the answer with a label. Complete the Guided Class Practice/Homework 108AB.

English/Language Arts - Same as Day 1 with your parents checking your work. Remember numbers 7-9 from Reading Menu 1 are for nonficition books so try reading a nonficition book today!

First underline the questions and put parenthesis around the information you need to answer the question. Act out each problem using 12,20,15,or 14 of any item - doesn't have to be candies or markers, as long as the items are all the same. Then draw pictures in the boxes to show what is happening the problem. Then write the division number sentence on the line. Write the answer with a label. Complete the Gudied Class Practice/Homework 107AB.

English/Language Arts - Same as day 1 - PARENTS - still check the written response, correcting and helping to make the writting complete.

March 26:

Christ Light - Reread 3A-David and Goliath. Talk with a family member about trust - how we see David displaying trust and make a list of troubles that we can trust in God to take care of for us. Write and illustrate Proverbs 3:5 and post it some where everyone will be able to see it. Close with a prayer about trust - asking for his help to continue trusting and thanking him for the help he has given all of us.

Math - Complete both sides Class Fact Practice 106 AB sheet, using 2 minute timing. You don't have to complete the x3 Speed Wrap-Up box. We are going to pretend we are paying some of school's bills as well as practice writing checks to any company on the sheet title Lesson worksheet 106. The first check is for $5,273.05, the second check is for $8,852.71, and the third check is for $48,431.54. Make sure to spell out all the dollar amounts correctly, using your math folder to check for spelling. Don't forget to sign your name at the bottom (in cursive, using your first and last name). When you are done writing the checks, add up the 3 amounts on the back to find the total amount of money you spent today paying bills. Have your parents send me an email with your total amount :) Complete the Guided Class Practice/Homework 106AB.

English/Language Arts - Same as Day 1, you are going to read for at least 20 minutes. Remember you can pick your book, just fill in the title and author on the 2nd green sheet (even if it is the same as yesterday). Choose a number from the menu to complete, and use the self check boxes before you finish. Have a parent check your work.


March 25:

Christ Light - Watch the video of David and Goliath (click the purple box labeled "David and Goliath" below) Read through lesson 3A- David and Goliath with a family member. Work through the Parent and Kids Activities. Also go through the memory treasure Proverbs 3:5, then close with prayer.

Math - Complete Fact Assessment 20-2. Use 5 minute timing to complete the front. If you have more time remaining, work on the bonus facts on the back. Complete Written Assessment 20 on your own. Have a parent correct your work. Then fix any that were wrong. Use the Line Song (click the purple box labeled "Line Song" below) Complete Lesson Worksheet 105-2 by first thinking about what perpendicular lines are (perpendicular lines look like the sides of a rectangle). Review letters with parallel lines (E,F,H,I,M,N,W,Z). Then trace perpendicular line segments in the letters with a red writing utensil (E,F,H,I,K,L,T). Fill out Venn Diagram (where the circles intersect go the letters that have both).

English/Language Arts - We will begin by using Reading Menu 1. After you read (remember at least 20 minutes), read the directions at the top of the sheet. These Menus are meant to go with fiction or nonfiction books and those books can change as you finish, just be sure to write the book title and book author at the top of each completed writing assignment. Make sure to use the self check boxes before you are finished. PARENTS - please check your students work and talk about how to make it more cohesive, fluent and logical. Change answers and sentence to make it those things. There is a rubric included on each page - the goal is for each student to score the full 10 points by meeting all the requirements in the "2" column. (I know this takes time, but it is probably the most important part)
