Getting to São Paulo

São Paulo has two primary airports.

  • Guarulhos (GRU): domestic and international flights
  • Congonhas (CGH): domestic flights only

It is possible to book a taxi in advance online from sites such as Guarucoop. Please note that many taxi drivers may only speak Portuguese.

An executive bus service connecting both airports with locations in the city center is also available. The fare is about 50 R$. The lines, schedules, and online tickets can be found here.

Visa

Brazil adopts a policy of reciprocity regarding visas. This means that nationals of countries that require visas for Brazilian citizens will need a visa to travel to Brazil.

Immunization Requirements

Although Brazil does not requires vaccination prior to your visit, your home country may request an immunization certificate. Please verify the requirements with your country’s local government. The centre of São Paulo, where the meeting is located, is not an endemic region for yellow fever.

Currency

Local currency is Brazilian Real - R$ (plural is 'Reais').

Credit cards are widely accepted in São Paulo, including in most taxis.

Voltage and Plugs

The standard voltage in Brazil is 127 V with a standard frequency of 60 Hz.

The type of plug used in Brazil is a 3-pin type N, which could also accommodate a 2-pin type C plug as well.

It is recommended to bring a universal plug adaptor.

Time zone is BRT (UTC-3h).
