What will I get to do in band?

● Learn to play an instrument and read music

● Make friends!

● Perform (concerts, pep rallies, football games, competitions)

● Field Trips and social events

● Develop life-skills (discipline, responsibility, accountability, cooperation, social skills, and much more).


How do I join the Gator Beginner Band?

What instrument can I play?

● Woodwind Instrument Choices: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Bassoon

● Brass Instrument Choices: Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba

● Percussion (drums AND mallet instruments)


How much does it cost?

● The cost of renting a quality instrument and the required supplies varies depending on the instrument your child selects and the company you choose to rent your instrument through. We will help guide you through this process to the best of our abilities.

● Some instruments are school-provided. These instruments require a maintenance fee for use and does not include the cost of required supplies.

● Each year, students will pay a band fee to cover social fees, the cost of classroom-provided supplies, and band uniforms.

● The MOST important thing to know is that WE ARE HERE TO HELP! We firmly believe that money should not stand in the way of a student learning to play an instrument. Please contact the band directors with questions.


How much time outside of school do I need to commit?

● 4 after-school rehearsals (2 in the Fall, 2 in the Spring)

● 2 concerts (1 in the Fall, 1 in the Spring)

● 2 competitions (a group competition and a solo competition)

● All events are scheduled prior to the start of the school year, so you will be given plenty of notice to prepare your schedule for these rehearsals/performances.


Can I still participate in other extracurricular activities?

● Yes! All programs at Autumn Ridge MS communicate with each other in order to allow students to do ALL the activities they wish to be involved in.
