Welcome Center and Niswonger Research Library

The Welcome Center was dedicated in June 2, 2012. The property located at 133 East Third Street was purchased at a Sheriff’s auction on July 31, 2009 for $10,500. The county engineer’s office graded and installed a parking lot for the museum in the fall of 2009. The students from the Vantage Career Center’s Building and Grounds Classes remodeled the house over the next two school years. The Center contains the Gift Shoppe at the Seven Oaks which offers many unique items for sale and the Niswonger Research Library which houses materials on the history and people of the county. We encourage our guests to take the opportunity to spend time in this facility.

We regret that we are unable to perform individual research requests at this time.  We are a totally volunteer staff and currently do not have researchers.  If you are interested in helping please contact the museum.  Our research center is open to the public during normal operational hours and by appointment.
