Middle School Art

Students used a photograph of their own pet done in oil pastel and inspired by George Rodrique's Blue Dog series. They then inserted their pet drawing into a famous masterpiece.

Small groups of students designed large murals as a final project after studying one point perspective. Masking tape, ink, and pencil were incorporated.

Students created original ceramic jack-o-lantern luminarios for Halloween using coils. They also used their imaginations to form abstract slab containers.

Culmination of 6th Grade Impressionism Unit: Using cotton swabs and acrylic paint students recreated a small detail from a famous masterpiece.

Each student chose a historical hero to create their own portrait of their hero after studying heroic characteristics in core classes. The Hall of Heroes was a parent event in November.

Inspired by barn quilt patterns, students created their own hard-edge painting using masking tape and preferred colors.

Abstract or imaginary and interchangeable totem poles were designed using slab or hand-building techniques.

After studying the proportions of the human face, students sculpted a ceramic head from their own ideas. This followed a demonstration by a visiting artist, Bob Willis.
