Technology in the Classroom

We will be using technology in my classroom regularly. Students are welcome to bring in their own devices (BYOD), but that is a priviledge and not a right. Though personal technology can enrich the classroom, by no means is it an expectation that your student have their own device at school. Students are only allowed to bring in their device after both you and them completed the BYOD contract. In our class we have a traffic light system where Green = welcome to use technology, Yellow = ask the teacher before using, and Red = technology is not to be used. Here are the basic rules that outline our technology use.

  1. No texting, messaging, or social media at school
  2. No YouTube
  3. Music is allowed through songs on the device or a streaming service as per your discretion
  4. No data usage when at school
  5. Absolutely no photos/videos are to be taken

If these rules are broken, a conversation will take place between you and I and will be escalated if needed.
