Club Days

At JHS, we have designated every other Tuesday during advisement time as club meeting times to give students many opportunities to become involved with our school.  These are the club days scheduled for the 2023-2024 year:

Club A days:  Sept. 5, Oct. 3, Nov. 7, Dec. 12, Jan. 30, Feb. NONE, Mar. 5, Apr. 9

Club B days:  Sept. 19, Oct. 24, Nov. 28, Dec. NONE, Jan. 16, Feb. 13, Mar. 19, Apr. 16

Academic Bowl

Students show off their general academic knowledge through competing with other area high school students.  If you like trivia game shows like Jeopardy, this is the club for you!

Adviser:  Mr. Andrew McCain

Meetings:  Room 2002 (Modular Building) after school twice per week August through November in semester 1 only.

Academic Bowl

Anime Club

We provide a space for students to share their interest of Japanese animation and games.  Activities include viewing Anime videos and series, sharing of Manga, and skill development in Yu gi oh and Majic.  Once a month, Anime club members will watch a Japanese film, an episode of a Japanese TV show, or watch several episodes of an anime.  Parent permission slips and club fee are required.

Beta Club

Beta club promotes the ideals of character, achievement, service, and leadership by providing opportunities and experiences that demonstrate these traits.  We complete school and community service projects.

Advisers:  Ms. Madison Wright, Room 1139

Beta Club

Book Club

Book Club celebrates reading for fun! With the help of the advisers, members will choose books to read independently and then discuss at the following meeting and/or share book suggestions with each other. Book Club coordinates activities for TeenTober and Read Across America Day to promote reading to all students at JHS.

Chess Club

Students get an opportunity to play games of chess and improve their skills in this game.  Competitions may also be held.

Chess Club

CTI Club

CTI provides students opportunities to develop leadership skills by using their career-tech skills to help other people in the community.  Activities include the following:  school-wide literacy projects and CTI State Leaderhip Conference competitions.

CTI Club

Drama Club & International Thespian Society

We support theatre education and performance in our community.  We work toward special community performances and improving our acting and set/prop craft, we also take trips to see professional plays and performances.

Meetings:  In the PAC Classroom (room 1309) on Club B days only

Drama Club is open to all students in grades 9-12; ITS is open to eligible students

Excalibur

Excalibur is Johnson's literary magazine and publishes writing and art from the student population.

Adviser:  Mrs. Caroline Rabalais (Bedingfield)

Gamer's Club

Johnson eSports & Gaming is for competitive, casual, and curious gamers! Our competitive teams face opponents in games such as League of Legends, FIFA 21, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and more!  We also discuss, strategize, and play various board, card, and dice games.  From D&D to Settlers of Catan, we cover it all!  We host various gaming tournaments (both video games and trational games) throughout the year - members get in free!

eSports

FBLA

FBLA brings business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs.  We participate in leadership training, business-related competitive events, workshops, and service projects.

FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes)

This Christian organization is dedicated to character development, fellowship, and service.  Our activities include meetings, conferences, and community service projects.

Meetings:  Mrs. Eidson's Room (1125) on Club B days, Leaders meet on Thursday morning

FCA

FCCLA

FCCLA is a family based, community service organization.  Student led projects seek to make a positive difference in the lives of fellow students, our surrounding community, and the world at large.  Leadership, teamwork, and empathy are just a few of the skills gained by students in this organization.  Past students projects have included playground restructuring, sensory garden implementation, and nursing home visits.  Each year is different - come be a part of the change!

HOSA

HOSA promotes career opportunities in the health care industry and enhances delivery of quality health care to all people.  Our activities include conferences, competitions, meetings, health fairs, and community service projects.

HOSA

JGG Career Association

This student-led organization motivates participants using pride of membership, involvement, and recognition to encourage participation & high performance.  Students selected for JGG are Career Association Chapter members.  Planned activities develop personal, social, & leadership skills, and explore career, college, and job opportunities.

Knight Connection

Latino Knights of Service

We inspire students to become more knowledgeable servant leaders in the community by providing worthwhile learning experiences and emphasize importance of education and ethnic diversity with parent involvement, exposure to higher education opportunities, mentoring/tutoring, and cultural awareness.  Activities include service learning, fundraising, and mentoring/tutoring.

Latino Knights of Service

National Art Honor Society

NAHS recognizes and inspires students who show outstanding art ability.  Activities include school, community, and state art opportunities.  Dues and service hours are required to maintain membership.  Membership is only open to students in an Advanced Art Class.  Workshops and service opportunities may be provided throughout the year.  NAHS works with the other fine arts program to plan Fine Arts Nights at the school.

National Art Honor Society

National Honor Society

NHS is a student-led organization that encourages and emphasizes scholarship, service, leadership, and development of good character in students.  Our activities include school and community service projects as well as workshops on leadership and character development.

Meetings:  Room 1110 after school on the 2nd Tuesday of the month and mornings on the 2nd Wednesday of the month

National Mathematics Honor Society

Club membership is by invitation only.  It honors students who show an interest and scholarship in mathematics.

National Mathematics Honor Society

SkillsUSA

We serve high school students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical, and skilled service occupations.  Our activities include monthly meetings, community service activities; region, state, and national competitions; and conferences in skill and leadership.

SkillsUSA

Sociedad Hispanica Honoraria (SHH)

This organization is designed to recognize high achievements of high school students in the Spanish and Portuguese languages and to promote continuing interest in Hispanic and Portuguese studies.  Our activities include chapter meetings, tutoring lower-level Spanish students, Spanish immersion day, community service, and opportunities for National Spanish examinations, travel, and scholarships.

Meetings:  Annex Room  after school on the last Friday of the month with the exception of September

Sociedad Hispanica Honoraria

Student Council

The Student Council represents the student body of each class and instills in students a sense of citizenship and community service.  We are in charge of advertising Spirit Week, handling Power Puff, Veteran's Day, and Knight's Court.  Other volunteer activities are planned, but those dates are TBA.  All class officers represent their respective classes at meetings as necessary to voice opinions, concerns, etc. they see within their grade levels.  In addition to these roles, 10th officers plan and carry out Homecoming, 11th officers plan and carry out prom, 12th officers plan and carry out prom as well as perform duties at graduation.  12th officers are also in charge of 12th grade t-shirts and will plan reunions post-graduation.

Swords of Strength Peer Leadership

We plan initiatives on campus to support mental health, wellbeing, and student connections. We provide training on identifying students in need of mental health support, and run campaigns to create mental health awareness. We believe everyone has Sources of Strength in their lives, and we try to help our students find them, and when needed to become them.

Meetings:  One Wednesday per month in the media center or the PAC

Upward Bound

The University of North Georgia Upward Bound program provides support services to eligible high school students, encouraging them to achieve new successes and motivating them to build skills as they prepare for college.  Participants have access to academic advising, mentoring, field trips, and other educational opportunities and are expected to reach their highest potential as they prepare for the next level of their academic careers.

Meetings:  Learning Lab 303 on Club A & Club B days; after school and Saturday meetings TBA

Young Politicians

The Young Politicians club is designed to provide a democratic experience to the youth of our society.  Our goal is to further democracy, participation in government, and good citizenship.  We accomplish our goal by establishing a forum for discourse and community service.  Activities include service projects, voter registration drives, and volunteering for local candidates.
