HEVI: 2020 Health Exploration Virtual Internship

Application for winter internship (November 2- December 31st)

This Health Pathway Internship is virtual therefore you must be committed to independent work. We will learn how to interact with digital patients of all age levels using Shadow Health simulators. Communicating, examining and documenting your findings in variety of medical settings will give you the opportunity to test out a medical career before actually starting. Grossmont Hospital employees will zoom meet weekly with you and discuss their educational and career path as well as describe their job duties.Additionally, you will be enrolled in an online class called Healthcare Essentials 1 and 2. For this effort you will earn 10 credits, with a pass (no grade will be issued) All expenses are paid by the Grossmont Hospital District. Upon completion you will earn 100 hours of internship experience, full-fills the requirement for either Gold or Silver Health Pathway completer status and be awarded with a certificate.



Internship Opportunity

SDCOE is partnering with the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department Cadet Program to recruit students for their upcoming September cohort. The Cadet Program combines hands-on training and classroom learning to provide students an introduction to professional firefighting careers with the City of San Diego and to teach them mental and physical wellness, self-responsibility and personal growth, leadership, teamwork, and fire prevention skills. Cadets will have the opportunity to participate in the following activities…

  • Cutting apart cars using vehicle extrication tools

  • Practicing search and rescue techniques

  • Practicing rope rescue techniques

  • Learning CPR and advanced first aid

  • Exploring different firefighting trucks

  • Fighting real fires in controlled scenarios

Program Details

To Apply: Students interested in a public service career can sign up to participate by emailing sdfdcadets@sandiego.gov with their name, date of birth, and a statement about why they are interested in joining the Cadet Program. You will receive a response within two weeks.

When: The program begins in late September 2020. Registration is open now!

Who: To be eligible, students must be between 16 and 21 years old, have at least a 2.0 GPA, and maintain a 2.0 GPA throughout the duration of the program.
