Guard Taiwan's Amphibians with Passion and Specialty

用熱忱與專業守護台灣的兩棲類動物—李承恩老師

Teacher Cheng-En Li is from Luzhou. During his childhood, there were farms everywhere around Luzhou because of the minimal development. His family were also farmers. He has an outgoing personality, and he is interested in going out and exploring the nature during his free time. He attended Cheng-Gong Senior High School and joined the biology study club. After that, he was getting more and more interested in various frog species. This fascination burgeoned over time, leading him to make the research and conservation of frogs his enduring passion and pursuit.

Teacher Li shared with us that school time he faced numerous challenges during his academic journey, but he always welcomed them as opportunities for growth and problem-solving. He admitted that he spent too much time playing in high school, which resulted in less-than-ideal scores on his university entrance exams. Consequently, he had to retake a year before gaining admission to the Department of Zoology at National Taiwan University. Although he later pursued a doctoral degree, he ultimately did not complete it. Nevertheless, he viewed this setback positively because he discovered new interests and felt a greater sense of accomplishment in other areas of study. Therefore, not obtaining his doctorate did not deter him significantly. Teacher Li encourages everyone to persevere in the face of adversity.  With effort and determination, there are always alternative paths to explore.
