Chemical Biology utilizes small molecules as a tool to resolve biological problems or to understand the roles of proteins by interfering or by regulating the biological processes. Chemical Biology is closely related to Chemical Genetics in genomics level, and it is extending to Chemical Genomics. The new field of chemical biology brings together chemists and biologists who are seeking to understand and mimic the natural system. Chemical Biology can sometimes be defined as the design or identification and the exploitation of novel small molecules as tools to investigate questions in biology.
