· Interpersonal Task: Involves two or more students exchanging information in the target language. Can be oral (conversation) or written (email reply or letter).

· Interpretive Task: Requires student to interpret information from printed texts, graphs, or audio that is presented in the target language.

· Presentational Task: Requires the student to present information in the target language either orally on in written form. This can include oral presentations or written compositions.

Classroom Rules and Expectations

· Students are expected to come to class prepared and on time. In order to be prepared for my class students must bring their Spanish notebook or binder along with their Stamp Sheet.

· Students should immediately begin to work on the daily warm up that will always be posted on the Promethean Board.

· Students should always remain seated unless instructed otherwise.

· Students should NOT be on their cellphones or other mobile devices unless instructed by the teacher for educational purposes.

· Students should always be respectful of others and their property.

Violation of these Procedures and Expectations will result in the following consequences:

· First Offense: Verbal Warning

· Second Offense: Parent/Guardian Contact and/or 15 minute detention

· Third Offense: Afterschool detention

· Fourth Offense: Referral

Class Participation

Learning a foreign language requires constant practice with all modes of communication (Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing). Each lesson will be focused on at least one or two modes of communication and it is imperative that all students participate in order to be prepared for IPAs. Participation will be recorded through the student’s STAMP SHEET which they will receive on the first day. This will help me and the students keep track of their daily participation as well as classwork.

Absences and Classwork

According to district policy, students have 5 school days from the date of an excused absence to makeup missed work. If a student is absent the day of a test or quiz, but was present the day it was assigned, the student is expected to be prepared to take it the day of his/her return to school. If a student is absent the day a project is due but was present the day it was assigned he/she must be prepared to present it or turn it in the day of his return to school.

Late Work Policy

It is expected that you keep up with your work and meet your deadlines. For each day (24 hr period) that an assignment is late, 10 points will be deducted for a maximum of 5 days, after the 5 day mark, you will receive a zero for a grade. Unusual circumstances will require teacher discretion.

Cheating and Plagiarism

In accordance with Greenville County School District policy, all cheating and plagiarism will result in a call home and a grade of zero for the assignment, quiz, or test. This includes electronic plagiarism via computer or internet translators, even native speakers who translate your thoughts into Spanish do NOT represent your work. There are ways, often extremely obvious ways, to deduce whether a student has utilized a translator. DO YOUR OWN WORK!
