Read 180 Reading Programs
Student Application: Students work for 20 minutes in the software lessons on the computer EVERYDAY in class, while I conference on a rotating weekly basis and also work with students one-on-one who need further assistance with the software. Student are expected to complete three segments per nine weeks.
Workbook: Teacher led direct instruction in the Real Book on Tuesday, Thursday, and every other Wednesday.
Each grade is expected to complete the section titled Getting Started - Learn how the Read 180 classroom works and get to know the materials and daily procedures. Investigate what it means to have a growth mindset, get inspired by former Read 180 students, and set your goals for the year ahead. Then each grade will complete two workshops per year.
6th grade completes
Workshop 1: Stand Up - Meet three inspiring people overcome extreme hardship, prejudice, and abuse when they were children. Now, they work tirelessly so that other children can enjoy the rights they themselves were denied.
Workshop 2: Water Fight - Drought and water shortages threaten Earth's supply of Freshwater. It's a global problem. Are there any solutions?
7Th grade completes
Workshop 3: Life in Dystopia - Imagine a world in which you have no choices. You are forced to conform, even when you know it's wrong. Many writers have created such places. Welcome to Dystopia...

8th grade completes
Workshop 5: Contagion - First, one person gets sick. THen another. Soon everybody's sick. Is it an outbreak? An epidemic? Find out what makes some diseases contagious -- and how medical experts work to stop them from spreading.
Workshop 6 : No Ordinary Sport - More and more athletes are taking sports to the extreme. They are diving from high cliffs. They are leaping from rooftop to rooftop. They are trying to achieve the impossible, while fans look on in fear and fascination.
2. Independent Reading Students will be expected to read one EBOOK and two EREADS per nine weeks. Students will complete a reading log for the EBOOK and a quickwrite for each EREAD (Read 180). Students will take a Reading Counts quiz for every EBOOK and EREAD. EBOOKS will be read on Monday and every other Wednesday, whereas EREADS are on Friday!
